Worked great until it didn't
I've had this for almost a year. 11 months. When it works it's the perfect reader for CF and an extra SD card. Easy to make transfers. But the last 2 months it's worked intermittently. What's frustrating is that it's corrupted one of CF express cards because it disconnected while transferring. I would look elsewhere unless you're just looking for a backup because you forgot your primary CF express reader.

No brand name
The listing for this item specifies a brand name, Quanlex . HOWEVER, when the item arrive, it was in a white box with no name on it. The item itself has NO BRAND NAME. Thus far, it seems to be working, but I am very suspicious about merchandise that is unbranded. My guess is that this item is a clone produced in the PRC of some other brand, and may or may not use "top quality" components. Top name brands, such as Delkin, ASIN B08L9NZCKR, also fail but did not damage the card -- simply failed to read after a year or so. However, depending upon the chip set and construction used in this Quanlex, the failure could be card damage (loss of data on the card), and that is unacceptable. Had the name been on the reader, I would keep it and test it. Without that brand name, I plan not to take a chance and to return it. I am giving this Quanlex 3 stars because, for now, it is working and the "price is right", but I have no idea how it will perform in a year. I replaced the Delkin with a Transcend, ASIN B08R412B4K, that is working without issue; but I bought the Quanlex for three reasons: metal exterior same as Transcend (Delkin is plastic), both CFex and SD card slots (much more convenient), and approximately half the price of the Transcend -- but, the Quanlex is an unbranded item and thus suspect.
