Entertaining film - but the DVD extras are forgetable.
Largely filmed in the town where I live, apparently because Simon Pegg lives nearby and always wanted to make a film during the day and still being able to be home with his feet up in front of the fire by the evening. The extra bonus, of course, is that I get to see my town blown up!So its a bit of a shame to say that it is probably the weakest of the three Cornetto films - not that it isn't very good, just it does not quite reach the heights of the first two.The DVD itself was particularly disappointing. The main thing you buy a DVD is for the extras, and (for all of the above reasons) I was really looking forward to a "making of" - and its rubbish. Seriously - a total waste of space.

Too Serious to be a Comedy
But too funny to be serious. Actually quite a deep film to be honest, that strikes a nerve with all of a certain age, as in 'where did all the good times go?' Simon Pegg plays Gary King, a sad middle-aged man running on fumes with nothing to show for his life bar a matched pair of suicide scars, who drags the world kicking and screaming down to his level, where he can finally live out his fantasy, roaming around a post-apocalyptic wilderness like a medieval knight with his gang of robot school friends. What's not to like? I thought it was fantastic and I'm going to have to watch it again, this time on acid. Actually, probably not, but if you're expecting a comedy, look elsewhere, because this film is very dark indeed.

What an odd film, I got this as I'm ...
What an odd film, I got this as I'm loving Simon Pegg films at the moment. This was an added bonus as it also has Nick Frost too (and a few other big names Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman, and much to my surprise, Pierce Brosnan!).Bit hard to get my head around the storyline at first, but an enjoyable film.Fab acting and cast.

The end of the world at the World's End
This comedy is the third in the Simon Pegg / Nick Frost Trilogy & see's the boys going back to their home village to complete a pub crawl that they failed to do as youths. It soon become clear that the village has changed????Great comedy & story line but I found it was better on the second watching as you tend to miss salient points on the first watch.

A little bit disappointing considering the cast and writers
I've watched Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, with slightly decreasing enjoyment. This film adheres to that pattern. and is just another step down the ladder. It may be that whatever order the films came in, would have the same result, i.e. that I felt the first was better than the second and that better than the third. It's difficult to pinpoint the problem, but I just think the bizarro humour may only have one film in it and it's best to take the best one out of the trilogy, don't make the other two and leave it at that. For me, that one is Shaun of the Dead.

No dead end here!
After the relatively disappointing 'Hot Fuzz', 'The World's End' brings the Cornetto Trilogy to a fitting end. This is a denser, perhaps more serious story, for all its robot humanoids and superbly choreographed fights; characters have proper backstories beyond the school pals reunion set-up and even the alien-takeover plot is less one-dimensional than you'd expect. Edgar Wright's direction has matured too. Sure he still uses his arsenal of visual tricks, but in a much more contained way than in 'Shaun of the Dead' or 'Hot Fuzz'.The Blu-Ray has an astonishing amount of extras in terms of features (nearly all of which are comprehensive and, more importantly, interesting!) and the commentary is everything you'd expect.'Shaun of the Dead', however, remains this team's crowning glory, in my view. I might admire the maturity that Pegg, Frost & Wright have attained here, but the first film has a unique energy borne out of the experiences of 'Spaced' that means it never outstays its welcome and makes it endlessly re-watchable.

A quality film with some of the best quotes towards the end :')
This is ne of those films i will always watch again. The comedy in it is ingenious and the Pegg-Frost charm is yet to wear off. This is probably my favourite of all the similar films (Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul) as it has the most inventive humour. its also nice to see Martin Freeman in the film! the thing i most love about the film is the reversed role of the two main characters, in all other of their films Nick has always been the Stupid, childish one and Simon has always been the adult, sensible one; its nice to see this reversed for a film!

"To Err is Human" but God forgives (& me as well, sometimes)
Definitely not even half as funny as the classic zom-com "Shaun of the Dead". And "Hot Fuzz" is also funnier than this film. However, "The World's End" is only marginally less funny than "Hot Fuzz", and against the many other sci-fi/horror comedies out there all 3 films in the cornetto trilogy in my view surpass most of them (except the likes of "Oh Mr Porter", "Amigo Undead", and "Cockney's vs Zombies"). Whereas I'd award 5 stars for "Shaun" & "Fuzz" I've awarded this film 4 as a contrast. It's still a funny film & I would have given it a top star rating if I hadn't have watched & enjoyed the first two movies (that I also have on DVD) so much.

An "OK" end to the Cornetto trilogy.
Not their best work - some giggles, some laughter, most falls flatMissing the biting humour of Shawn of the Dead (see what I did there?) or the over-the-top spoof action of Hot Fuzz./// SPOILER /// fun fact: notice that each movie in the Cornetto trilogy is explained in details by one of the characters early in each movie...

A Lot deeper than I was expecting
This conclusion to the Cornetto Trilogy turned out to be a lot more thought provoking than I expected. What happens when a group of friends grows and goes their separate ways? There is always one, whose glory days are in the past, that clings to them so tightly that a different future doesn't really emerge for them.Take that idea and cast it with brilliant actors/director and The World's End is the product.

You never see the weirdness coming
If you have seen Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz you know you are in for a strange ride. The movie starts off with a drunken pub crawl and then goes off on an unexpected tangent. If you enjoy this type of humour, you will have a great time.
