A good fit and operates as it should.

I installed this drive in an older Dell PC after its OEM drive failed. It fit perfectly and works beautifully.

My PC didn't include an optical drive and wasn't designed to take the old Half-Height drives. Only option was a compact laptop drive, and this one worked out pretty well. Installation could have been easier, but that's on the PC case design. Definitely quieter than the old style drives. Only complaint is an occasional lockup when I can't eject the tray. Paper clip to the rescue!

Exactly what I was looking for at a great price.

It worked fine when i first installed it. a couple of weeks later, the tray will not open. i have requested a replacement. i will modify this review if that works out. Also, it did not come mounting screws. i had a quite a time finding one from my old discarded hard drives.

When playing a disc this thing sounds AWFUL, like it's scraping the heck out of the disc, but no damage has occurred so far. My guess is something internal could be loose because that's the only thing I could think would cause this noise without scratching up the disc. Also, the tray is not powered, so it won't open all the way on its own or close on its own if that's something you want in a disc drive. It works just fine other than the noise. Also, for anyone unaware like I was, you'll need an adapter for the power cable to fit this smaller plug if this is going in a PC tower rather than a laptop.

This optical drive fits perfectly in my HP Slimline computer. It would be much better if it included the latching module too. I had to order mine from E-bay. The optical drive works very well for regular use, but not great for gaming. Thankfully I am not a big gamer!
