SONET/SDH Demystified 1st Edition

This is a great book for all EE who have been disconnected from technology for a number of years and want to understand what all the buzz of sonet, optical technology, etc is all about. It is very comprehensive, covering topics beyond SONET, including optical technology, ATM, network architectures, ...It is very clearly written. The title "demystified" is well justified. At the same time, it is very comprehensive, covering all topics in sufficent detail (e.g. all the header bytes of sonet are explained).It is also very well written and entertaining. All in all, a fabulous book.Congratulations Steven!

I have a general knowledge of transmission technology and I bought this book seeking to deepen my understanding.The author writes in an informal language, at times even entertaining and to me, his knowledge of the subject seems thorough.Having said that and considering my preparation and my scope, I must say that I am left wishing for something more; for a writing style that takes into better consideration the thought processes of somebody who reads about the more detailed parts of the subject for the first time, rather than just reading about something one is already aware of.
