Oatey42358 4-inch Stainless Steel Strainer with 2 Screws

I used this drain strainer/cover in our shower to minimize the view of the underlying drain pipe because the strainer openings are small. It fits well, is nice and shiny, and the price is great. As pointed out by others, the included screws were a bit too short, so I just used longer ones I got at the hardware store. It arrived covered with a blue film to protect the shiny surface, but the film was easy to peel off.

So I received the item and it seemed legit, I had read the reviews of the screws being too short but i said f it, I can figure it out. I looked up the website to see the screws the manufacturer had sent, they are the 2nd photo,#10 and are 1/4 inch in length, the screw you need is pictured in the 3rd photo and available at the Depot, I had to go to a Depot that was several minutes away 15-20 minute drive as opposed to my usual 5 minute drive because this size is a bit scarce. At my local Depot I first bough by 1/2 which were way too long, the screw was too raised. Not a perfect perfect fit, you see the result in my 4th photo, not quite flush, the left side seems a tad raised, but that could be because my house is old. Nonetheless its nothing that i worry about, I tried to take the cover off with some pliers are it didnt budge. Cost of the Screws at the depot 1.30 out the door, its a pack of 4. Hope this helps someone out there, the screw size that worked for me was 3/8 again shown in the 3rd photo.

The original shower drain cover in my shower, started to pit and corrode. I was very pleased to see that they made a replacement for such an affordable price on Amazon. I was a bit worried with all of the reviews that said the screws were too short, however, the screws in my original cover were exactly the same length so I didn’t think it would be a problem.I put the replacement cover on and although the holes didn’t line up 100% in the same spot, it was close enough that it screwed on and the cover sat flush just fine. It doesn’t fit 100% exactly into the same groove of the other Drain itself but it doesn’t leave any lip to catch your foot and cause a problem either so it looks like it has served its purpose.The only complaint I would have slightly is that because it doesn’t line exactly up with the original Oatey drain that was installed, the screws that are used do ever so slightly stick up on the edge of one side of the screw, but it is very slight so I don’t think it will be a problem with bare feet. Seems to do the trick for me!

The plate itself was excellent quality and stainless steel but the 2 stainless screws were not included in the sealed package. One lone screw was thrown in the box which was too short, incorrect size.

As advertised. It's a good product and good value. Only difficult thing was peeling the blue protective covering off.

As most reviews here will tell you, the 2 screws that are included are not long enough to bite. So you'll have to go buy a 8 pack (of the right screw length) at the local hardware or Home Improvement store. This comoany would be smart to include a little longer SS screw that will work in most cases. Maybe send 2 sets of screws for the consumers convenience. Just a bit of a bummer to have to make a trip to hardware store when when I ordered online so i wouldnt have to go to a store.

Quality is good but for us it didn’t match the screw holes that why I took the star off.
