Excellent Product. Pays For Itself In Ammo Cost savings Alone
This was purchased quite a while back but after using it I didn't think to come straight back and post a customer review. I used this for two different rifles. One in an older Winchester Model 190 .22 long rifle. After about 30 years owning this Winchester I decided to "splurge" on a new scope to replace the one it originally came with. The other a new Ruger American 30.06. The scope for the .22 is a Bushnell fixed 4x32 and the scope for the 30.06 is 3-9 power Redfield Evolution. This boresigher does exactly what it claims to do. I sighted them at home then took them to the range. The 30.06 was hitting about 3 inches to the right initially and the .22 was hitting about 4 inches left at 11:00. Took only minor adjustments on both to get good center mass groupings. The boresighter essentially paid for itself just in cost savings sighting two rifles without going through a couple boxes of ammo for each to get on the paper. Also, if you are into the math and use the directions that accompany the product it would be possible to figure trajectory and use the grid pattern of the boresighter to get initial settings for longer range targets. If there is one recommendation I would make to Bushnell it's this. Add a level to the boresighter to alleviate the need to look through the scope and align the grid to the scope reticles. This would make set up easier and it would also serve to ensure the scope is mounted correctly (reticles true vertical and horizontal).

Easy to use, and works like a charm.
I was kinda skeptical, and didn't know what to expect when I ordered this. But, boy, am I glad I did. I had a rifle that I had just put a new variable power scope on. It really needed to be bore sighted. I verified that the scope was level to the rifle, grabbed the correct insert, and put it in the sighting scope, and placed it in the barrel. Using a lead sled to keep the rifle steady, it's just a matter of putting the scope cross hairs on the center of the little target you see in the boresight. Easy. So, took the rifle out to zero it today. WOW! I am impressed. Dead on left to right, and only about 5 inches high. A few clicks, to adjust the height, and couple more rounds to verify, and it was dead on. The cost saving on "shooting around" to find the zero amazing. Total of 8 rounds fired and gun is dead on. I would recommend this tool.

Great quality just doesn't fit.
Not compatible for my gauge. I have not used this item. It is in same shape it was when I received it. Excellent!

Time-tested and reliable
No lasers, no batteries, no fuss. This type of boresighter is decades old and still in use because it works. The intent is to get you centered and on the target sheet before you put a round in the chamber. It is then up to you to fine-tune the scope for your chosen load - same as if you used a laser or other type of instrument. Once you have dialed in your scope you can put the boresighter back on the rifle and write down the readings. This means you can re-check your zero after travelling, storage or just bumping the scope in use and know you are back on target. You can't do that with a laser... It would be perfect if it had an integrated bubble level so you could more easily find level with boresighter, rifle and scope as a unit instead of separately.

Pretty good boresighter
This boresighter works pretty good, if you put the scope right on center with a 22Lr or equivalent youll be almost centered, I used it on my sks and the the sights have to be just a hair above center line to hit a 6 inch circle at 100 yards, I also used it on 3 mosins, one of them with a scope, I had to put the scope 4 squares above center to hit target, the other 2 mosins have iron sights and those got set at 2 above and the other one at 3 above. Its a little tricky to use at 1st, but it works, and its fairly good for getting on paper, I used it at the range, which was nice to help get on paper 1st.... when I sighted in scoped mosin on center line it hit high at 100 yards, (like 14 inches) so I went 2 squares up from center at first, then shot, still high but better, then went 4 squares above, and made 6 shots in 6 inch circle at 100 yards, the rifle was rested with sand bags and I barely touched the gun to fire, just to pull trigger and just having my shoulder against it. I am happy with it, when using it just dont let it shift around in bore., the arbors work ,but still be careful, It will not work on any raised scope like a AR 15 or M4 so keep that in mind My thoughts is if its a high powered round go up from center 1st, if above you shoot low if under center you shoot high,, for me center line only worked on my 22 lr rifle, bring it with you to the range and get on paper. vertically I had no issues with left or right with my rifles......kinda wierd

Save money, time & ammo by using this instead of laser.
Don't waste your money buying a laser bore sighter, get this one instead. This is the traditional bore sighter or collimator long time shooters have been using. It took me 18 shots before I landed on paper using a laser, 6 shots after using this collimator (1.5" grouping at 100 yards, 308 caliber). It's hard to find an original Bushnell made in Japan nowadays, this one is now made in China for Bushnell, but it does what it's supposed to do. It's a bit expensive compared to what the same thing cost me years ago, but it's worth it.

These Things Still Work...
I have an old (1927) Savage Model 99 carbine in 30-30 Winchester with a Weaver K4 60B scope that needed to be sighted in. After mounting, I took one shot and missed the target completely. Adjusted the scope using the boresighter and went back outside. Range was fifty yards. First shot hit the target. Got it more or less sighted in with three more shots. While good enough to hit the heart/lung region in a deer-sized animal, I still have room for improvement, so as soon as the weather improves, I have more time available and have slugged the bore and decided what bullets I am going to use, I will assemble some handloads and go back out to the backyard range. I've used these optical devices at stores where I've worked over the years and never had any issues. I was not especially looking forward to trying to use a laser sighter so was glad to find that Bushnell still makes an optical one. Obsolete they may be, but they still work, and I don't need no stinkin' batteries!

OK.
