Worked after 1st use
After 1 use!!!! The before picture was taken 1 hour AFTER washing my hair (i double wash) and the flakes were already visible. :( i hate it because my hair is black so the contrast makes it stand out. My scalp also feels inflamed on day 2-3 if i don't wash again. But then i dry my hair out. I took this last week and started looking for a solution. Then I bought this a few days ago and used it today when it arrived. After pic is also 1 hour AFTER doing my normal shampoo+one more round with this (i left it on for 5 mins). Rinsed and added conditioner to my ends. No flakes! Well maybe 1-2 here and there potentially but not obvious like before. You can judge for yourself. My scalp feels clean, not dry. I can’t smell the stink of the shampoo bc my conditioner covered it. I didn't find it to be overwhelming tbh. The smell is expected out of a medicated treatment so eh whatever. I asked my brother and dad if they could smell anything weird on my hair and they said no. But n=3 if you include me so idk. For $5, I think it’s worth it !

Effective, Gentle, and Budget-Friendly Dandruff Relief
I recently tried the Amazon Basics Moisturizing Dandruff Shampoo, and I’m genuinely impressed. It uses 1% selenium sulfide—the same active ingredient in pricier brands—but costs a fraction of the price. The shampoo lathers nicely, and the addition of aloe really helps keep my hair soft instead of stripping it dry. After just a couple of uses, I noticed less itching and fewer flakes. It didn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy; instead, it rinsed clean and left a light, fresh scent. One thing I liked was the moisturizing feel—I didn’t need an extra conditioner afterward, which saves time and money. A few weeks in, the dandruff hasn’t come back, and my scalp feels healthy. If you’re dealing with flakes or itchiness and want something effective without being harsh, this shampoo hits the sweet spot.

Smells awful, but works great!
If you want to save money, get this, same ingredients as Selsun Blue, cheaper price, sounds like a win win. My main issue with my scalp is itchiness, my scalp felt way cleaner with this shampoo, the itching subsided within 2 days. It does dry out my hair, I did use garnier fructis oil on my ends before washing and after washing and my hair was still very dry afterwards, I even used my regular shampoo (redken frizz dismiss) afterwards so I could blow out my hair, it was frizzy the next morning, and two days after it looked like it had never been blown out, very frizzy. Due to the lack of moisture, my scalp doesn’t feel oily at all, which is great. Here’s my biggest critique, it leaves an awful pungent smell of sulfur on my scalp, it made me gag the first day after the wash and dry, it’s bad, it’s the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars, but overall if you’re looking for a cheaper, cost effective alternative to find some relief, get this. Just bear in mind that the scent is not pleasant at all, my husband also used it and had the same complaint about the scent, however he did find relief and found that it helped with dandruff control as well as I did.

Excellent!!
Excellent product I have been using this since selsun blue was hard to find and wasn’t always available. This works great for my husband dandruff and also for my daughter‘s sensitive scalp and her dandruff issues. Ever since my daughter was about eight she has had dandruff and certain shampoos will burn her head and cause her head to itch, but this shampoo is excellent for her. I have tried many different shampoos for them and this one works for both of them.

Works fine 👍
This reminds me of the old shampoos from the 80s and 90s it has that strong smell they had. Not exactly a pleasant smell you know it is dandruff shampoo. Smell does linger on your hair and skin. It didn't improve the shine or hydrate my hair it was very drying to my hair. So for hair health would not recommend this if you are afraid of drying out your hair. If you want to get rid of itchiness this works. Lathers nicely and has a little bit of a tingling on your skin so that is good. Nice size bottle for half the cost of the brand name on sale. I would recommend this shampoo.

BOTTLE BLONDES BEWARE!
Update: I gave a third star because the green finally came all the way out. So no permanent damage. Still, it was an all-night ordeal...and the smell still lingers. I gave it 2 stars because it's cruelty free and does what it's supposed to. In fact, it's the only affordable dandruff shampoo I found that is cruelty free. Big props for that. However, there were two very bad things: 1) The smell. Three rounds of shampoo and conditioning mask later, I can still smell it so strong I can taste it. And not just in that dandruff-shampoo-is-smelly sort of way. This stuff is strong. 2) As I stated in the title, the lightest parts of my hair are mint green -- even after repeatedly scrubbing etc. I understand that people want their product to look like what they're used to but maybe cut down on at least half the coloring agent. You just can't mess with a woman's hair like that! I'm hoping a fourth round gets the rest of the green out. One thing I noticed though was that the first time I put on a conditioning mask after using the dandruff shampoo, my hair felt like it was crying with relief. My skin too. If anything drastic happens like my hair falling out I'll come back and update -- but honestly it can't be that bad. Right??
