I ordered this based on reviews here, and by the response from the seller with a couple questions I had. Very quick too respond, and extremely helpful. Removal of the old cylinder was super easy, and installation of the new one, even easier. This cylinder didn't stick through the bottom of the base like the original, but is still solid as a rock. The seller pointed out that some cylinders have a longer tapered section, and if this one raised the height of the chair too much, he would happily take care of us. It didn't do that, and works just fine. Huge improvement over our old worn out cylinder, and excellent customer service. I highly recommend this cylinder and seller!

This worked for a used Herman Miller Aeron that I bought.Do yourself a HUGE favor though and remove the seat and knock out the old cylinder from the top. I wasted an hour and a half trying to twist out the old cylinder with a pipe wrench and various other wrenches. The much easier way is to take off the seat and the cover for the cylinder and knock out the old one with an 11/16" socket. Once I did that, the new cylinder worked perfectly.

The hardest part of the job was getting the old cylinder out of the chair. A good "bop" with a heavy hammer does the trick. Installing the new cylinder is a cinch.

This operation is way too difficult with just a regular hammer. Luckily, I have our tools and my air hammer got the base off easily. However, the part that goes in the chair took me three hours to get out with the air hammer definitely not as easily done as they make it look.

I thought to myself, Man I have tools I don't need to spend a few extra bucks on some gimmicky removal tool. NO. BUY IT AND BE DONE. You absolutely can do this without the removal tool, but it took me about 20 minutes of WD-40 and beating on some vice grips to get the old cylinder out of the chair. Just buy the tool and keep it, then in the future you have it. Anyway, 10/10, spent $30 and saved a $350 chair. Thank you guys for the great product, the video instructions AND written instructions that are fluent English and not some Chinese translation that you can't understand. Honestly, most everything you buy on Amazon anymore is junk, but I was so surprised and happy to spend the money on this from this US based company.
