World of Reading Star Wars: Escape From Darth Vader: Level 1 (World of Reading (eBook))

My first grader has to read in front of her class for up to three minutes monthly. Originally she wanted to read a book she loved but really didn't know all the words.Just days before her reading date, this purchase arrived. I read it to her once and she was able to read 98% of the words after that one reading. Any word she didn't know or had difficulty remembering, I just told her to help her learn it (i.e, Sith Lord).I had her read it twice a day for four days before her class reading date. When it came time to read in front of her class, she read it with confidence.To go from struggling with the other book to reading this one with confidence in just four days was amazing to me. She asked for more Star Wars books so I purchased  World of Reading Star Wars Boxed Set: Level 1 (World of Reading: Level 1)  a few days ago. Even though it has a duplicate of this book in it, it is still a good value (I'll just donate the extra book to the class).She has never seen the Star Wars movie but loves the theme. When I gave her this book she jumped for joy immediately recognizing the Star Wars logo and characters. Because she loves the theme, she was interested in reading the content which meant she learned all the words within 10 days (she now reads all the words in the book with no help). This book boosted her confidence in her own reading ability by making the content engaging with great illustrations and using easy words that beginning readers can actually read.The boxed deal of six books for about the same cost as two individual book purchases is an inexpensive way to immediately boost their confidence in reading.

Grandson likes the book. I also like the condensed version and story. The only thing I don't like is that the story stops where R2 and C3P0 land (escape )on Tatooine. I wish they had follow up books to continue the story. Grandson has seen the movie so he wants to finish the hole story. Oh I know, they don't want to tell the part were Luke's Aunt and Uncle get killed and burned to a crisp....lol. Well the grandson loves that part.. such a boy.

These books are great for new readers who love Star Wars! My son is a huge Star Wars fan and these really encourage him to do some reading on his own! The levels are slightly higher than I expected. As a teacher, I know my son is a DRA 6, however, he really does best (on his own) with the Pre-Level 1 books in this series. It may just be the nature of some of the Star Wars words that are more difficult to sound out.

We've had some of the DK Star Wars level 1 readers, and they're pretty difficult for a beginning reader. Those have too many difficult names, to where he had to stop reading all the time to ask what a word was. This book is much more friendly for emerging readers! I'll be ordering more from this series!

My son struggled to read so these easy step books are a great way to have fun and advance his reading!

My son loves anything star wars. This book has been a nice addition to our collection.

Great book! Bought this as a gift for a 4 year old who has just started reading. According to his mother it's his bedtime book and reads it twice over. I think his mom was looking to purchase the other books. Great price too.

Purchased for my son who is 4.5 and just beginning to read. He still needs help, as many of the Star Wars words are unfamiliar. However, the subject matter of Star Wars keeps him engaged and interested in working through the book with me. I would definitely recommend!

nice little book to introduce kids to reading a cool story. only tells a small part of the story in a very basic way which allows for lots of questions from little ones to fill in the gaps

These books are fantastic. P1 boy not interested in reading at all but loves these.

The book looks great for my grandson for Christmas.It looks easy to read and as he is into Star Wars sure he will enjoy it.
