Men's Heritage Roper Western Boot

I’ll start with it’s been years for me to be back in boots . I could never find a good fit . I would say I have a fairly narrow foot but redwing store measurement was 12D on right foot and a strong 11 1/2 D on left foot. ( I bought redwing as well ) Getting foot in was a real pain , like I was thinking I’ll never get these off hard . Was really tight on instep. After they were on I’m like I hate these they are too tight. I’ll don’t return items that I bought wrong size of so I figured I’ll wear them and see. I’m so glad I did. Took 4 days of on and walking in them to loosen up. Some my fault I didn’t condition the leather ,I forgot that was needed . Now they are still tight getting on and off but either it’s stretching or I’m getting stronger 😀. At this point day 5 they have a nice pop when foot is seated and little what I would consider perfect fit heal slip . Like it only moves the tiny bit that it should. I love them . Still stiff uppers but I’m working them and I do enjoy wearing. Not putting on or taking off yet but no blisters at all . When they loosen up they are nice and soft. Once the uppers soften up and they are but I’m hand working that part it doesn’t get flexed if you don’t roll them around. I bet they will fit perfectly. The redwing 1155 I bought are easier to get on but I do like the feel of the Ariat better at this point. For the price a nice boot . I only hope the redwing gets as comfortable those were 263$ quality wise I fee redwing are better but you can get almost two pair of Ariat for not much more . I just don’t want to have to go through breaking in more is only reason for getting the other brand . Guys at farm store claim they get a good year out of wrists then another couple as The Who cares stomp around in whatever boots if you keep them conditioned. But these farmers are probably well we know they are putting these Ariat through a lot more than I will. I would say if you want to save some break in and not going to wear often maybe go half size bigger but only if your just wearing once in a while . For a everyday foot I would say get the correct size , expect them to be snug to tight at first. Everyone’s feet are different I do have a high instep foot . And on and off could only be a issue for me . In the othe boot brand I mentioned I kinda wish it was a little more snug to start with and I may have to get a 1/2 size smaller but salesperson said try these forts then if he is wrong no question asked exchange or refund it would be exchange only if I have too. If your on the fence I would say get measured and order the size of your foot and not listing to ones who say buy big or small on boots . Like me thier foot will be different than yours . They run true to size as far as I can tell. If your foot dead have a high instep it will be hard getting on and off . It is getting a lot better on the 5th day. When looking at boots the heal height can help or hurt your back. With me it kinda hurts with these but Ariat sell inserts to address this . As far as foot comfort goes I like them for my back I’ll end up with incerts. The other brand I don’t know yet but heal is different height and so far feel better on back. I do not regret buying the Ariat at all . These are just my personal opinions and trying to help someone else if I can . And I mentioned a few things I learned from boot shopping. Main thing is please get your foot measurements. Length and width. If you do that your ahead of the game . Now my sneakers feel weird to wear 😃 Take care everyone

I always wanted to try wearing cowboy boots but never had a clue on how to get started. Where I live there are no stores that sell cowboy boots where you can try on different style and sizes. Besides I don't know what I'm looking for and don't know how to fit cowboy boots. Finally, prices for cowboy boots that are considered to be high quality seemed to be too expensive for something I knew nothing about. But today's world is far different from the world when I was a young man. Today there are online retailers that offer vast choices in manufacturers, price, models and sizes. There are manufacturers that offer price points from affordable to high quality life-long investments. And finally, there are online videos and blogs that give detailed information relating to sizing and fitting, and the different styles. I was looking for an affordable, good quality boot that was comfortable and stylish. Something that was more plain and not flamboyant. A boot that could be both fashionable for casual wear and rugged enough for outdoor work. The Ariat Heritage Roper in Distressed Brown checked all my boxes. The Roper style is perfect for the novice that wants something that is easier to put on and take off. I wear 9.5Wide for all my tactical boots, so I did the same for the Roper. The 9.5 was super comfortable and was easy to put on and take off. Walking was almost effortless. But there was chafing around the ankles and a loose fit at the top of my foot. Videos said that there should be a pop or whoosh when putting on the boot and it shouldn't be too easy to take off. The 9.5 had no whoosh and taking off was like taking off a slipper. So I returned it for a 9 Wide. The 9 fit snug around the ball and arch of my foot, maybe a little tight. But I knew that 9.5 was too loose. Putting on the boot produced a whoosh and taking off the boot required a healthy pull. Wasling around town today felt a little tight but comfortable enough. There was no rubbing and I don't think it will cause blisters. Overall, I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the boot. The only downside to the boot is that it has no goodyear welt. But that is a compromise between price and performance. The all-rubber sole gives the comfort and performance of a work boot and delivers at a low price. You get what you pay for. Online videos that show the Roper being rebuilt and taken apart shows that the sole is stitched onto the leather, so it's not connected with just cement. Unless that stitching comes apart, I do not expect the sole to separate from the shoe like some well-known hiking boots that will go unnamed. The leather and construction of this boots is of good quality. This is not a boot that just pretends to be rugged. It's a real honest boot that I am glad I purchased.

Bought these boots about a week ago after searching online and trying on boots in stores all around town for almost a year. Overall, I am very happy with these boots and would recommend them across the board for fit, function, quality, and styling. Let's get into the details below. I wear a true 11D in most shoes (some running shoes I need 11.5M) I read all the reviews for all the Ariat boots and they are all over the map. I first bought Ariat Ramblers. Nice, but they were too long and slightly tight at 11D, returned for 10.5 D and those were way too tight. I did not venture to 10.5E and did not want to take the chance on a third pair going wrong. Plus they were a little too fancy in person with lots of stitching across the top. So then I looked at lace up boots like Dr. Marten's and Timberland. The Martens were all too loose up top and not enough ankle support. The Timberlands were too heavy and too warm for summer riding. HD riding boots were too bulky and boxy with large heels. Soooo, I thought I'd try this Heritage Roper. Ordered these on a Wednesday and they showed up on Friday. Lightning fast shipping! I was really hopeful they would fit and not have to return for a different size, avoiding a pain in the butt. They were a tad hard to get on at first, but started to loosen up after a few tries. Then they were a tad tight across the top of the arch, but not enough to be a problem. So I wore them around the house for 3 days with sport socks and they stretched out pretty well. I immediately put conditioner on them and that helped loosen them up, too. The seams were a little stiff at the ankle but worked that out as well. In the mean time, I also found a great remedy for tight shoes/boots online that made the final tweaking a perfect fit. Go to You Tube and search "How To Stretch Leather Boots" by Brian the Fireman... I will be using this anytime I have a tight shoe from now on. No water, no ice, no harsh chemicals... He uses a broom handle, of all things. Excellent tutorial! Rubbed the inside seems with this technique and it smoothed out the stiffness, and worked perfectly across the top arch area. So, I am very happy with this purchase after a long time of looking around and trying on all kinds of boots. Great motorcyle boot, not flashy, and seems to be good quality. Rubber sole and heel are ideal for traction.... Recommend this one. I will post more at a later date after riding with them over the summer.

Ariat nailed it yet again! I’m an Ariat fanboy, mainly due to the fact that my first pair of “good” boots were Ariats and they lasted me 11 years until the sole finally separated from the upper. Purchased these heritage ropers and man I’m in love. I know there’s a place for more traditionally made leather sole boots, and I have my fair share of them, but I’ve come to prefer rubber soles. This fit great, I’m an 11US in sneakers, but a 10-10.5D in Ariat boots. For example, my square toe sports are 10D, and These heritage ropers are 10.5D. I suggest going 1/2 size down in these. Both fit me perfectly. These ropers have quickly become my favorite and go to. Simple, not flashy, comfortable, and age like fine wine. Can’t beat them!

1. Narrow and Short!: Word of warning: Print out the Ariat sizing chart and measure your foot!!! It appears that the boot size given is more like the size of the rubber sole. I wear a 9.5 Wide in pretty much any other shoe or boot, so that's what I first ordered which was waaaaayyy too narrow and maybe a bit short. After a bit a of research, I found the Ariat printable sizing chart any my foot measured in at a bit bigger than 11.5 Wide. I ordered a size 12E and the boots were plenty wide but just a bit too big. Fortunately I was able to return both boots and the 11E was just right (maybe just a touch narrower than I'd like) but pretty comfortable overall. 2. Polishing tips: Don't try to polish these boots without stripping off the factory coating. I used a few coats of rubbing alcohol and barbasol shaving cream. I made the mistake of not stripping it of and the first coats of polish flaked right off. A good number of layers of black polish with a heat gun to melt the layers into one another really brought out the luster with a few neutral clear coats. Minimal flaking and the boots have broken in nicely after wearing them for a few days.

Good product

This is less about the product itself as much as the experience I seem to be having getting right sized cowboy boots. The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't get my feet past the ankle (at least not comfortably--I didn't want to shove the feet in and not be able to pull them out.) Looking side by side, the shoe part of the boots seem to be right sizewise. I can understand why the ankle is a bit tight since you probably don't want the boots sliding off, but you'd figure that you could slide the foot in reasonably comfortably..... I always did want a pair of cowboy boots, but perhaps I should try out a brick and mortar shop and try some on first.

Needed a pair of boots that a) could be used for all-around wear -- meaning not just as a work boot, b) were TSA friendly so I could pass quickly through security, and c) were fairly weather resistant. I followed Amazon's size suggestion based on previous purchases which guided me into an 11.5. Upon arrival the next day, was impressed with the packaging and quality of the boots for less than $150. They fit great and I wore them around the house for a couple of days before taking them on a trip this past weekend to the east coast. Was greeted to 36 hours of some truly awful weather, including standing on wet and muddy sidelines all day as a spectator. I had taken the risk of bringing these boots as my only footwear for the weekend--a move that could have been disastrous with anything short of a foul-weather boot--but I wanted to see if these could serve as a perfect travel boot so I could pack light. Thankfully, these worked even better than I expected and and my feet stayed warm and dry in the nasty conditions. I had considered getting a pair of traditional leather bottomed ropers but was very glad I opted for the Ariat's as the traction was nice, and leather soles would likely have been ruined had I gone that route. The boots were also very comfortable for walking through the airport and passed through the metal detectors as expected. All in all, I am very impressed with the quality, fit, looks and function of these boots.

They are a great boot at a pretty decent price. The leather seems very thick and durable, maybe a bit stiff but I think they will be great once they are broke in. I was going for something that would be the most durable possible so that they will last a long time, and I think these are going to be good. Time will tell if they hold up but they look promising. They have been reasonably comfortable from the start but still need some breaking in to wear for long amounts at a time
