Take into account learning foundations, goals, and contexts, then create stellar lessons for in-person or virtual delivery. This Dummies guide is your starting place for creating impactful courses, without the technical jargon. Learn the basics of instructional design so you can create meaningful learning experiences Discover techniques that will help you design high-quality content for any context Improve learning outcomes and deliver training content with greater efficiency Skip the complex theories and technical jargon and focus on the info you need to know This book is perfect for anyone who needs to develop a course, design a curriculum or training program, or provide educational content without being formally trained in instructional design. It’s also a great supplement to college-level instructional design courses. Whatever you’re teaching, Instructional Design For Dummies will help you teach it better. Review: Easy to read for someone who is learning about Instructional Design. - Well presented, and easy to follow for someone who is learning about Instructional Design and the guidelines in preparing presentations in an industrial environment. Review: Handy book for Learning Designers - As a Dyslexic designer I appreciate the clear organization of the book and easy to access key-takeaways. If I were to save only one ID/LX book and donate others - I'd be saving this one, because it summarizes everything I need to know to apply theory in practice related to learning design. I would have enjoyed some case studies or examples of LX products/services, but industry examples are usually not part of the "dummies" series format by Wiley (perhaps because "latest" examples have a shorter shelf life). In that sense this book would hold relevance longer with a focus on foundational concepts! If you are teaching a course on Instructional Design or Learning Experience Design, this would make a nice course book. If you are an LX designer in a more creative setting such as children's media or game design, you could pick up foundational LX skills from this book and pair it with a more visual-oriented book such as Rubens Cantuni's "Designing Digital Products for Kids".

Practical guide for creating effective learning experiences
This book is valuable for instructional designers, trainers, and educators looking for a pragmatic toolkit. It offers a hands-on exploration of the ADDIE process, equipping readers with a structured framework for crafting impactful learning experiences. Chapters 6 and 7 are dedicated to ID frameworks, providing strategies to jump-start the design process and craft engaging and active lessons. Like most in the "For Dummies" series, the book has a lot of pragmatic tips, real-world examples, best practices, and useful checklists. Accessible yet insightful, this book would be a valuable resource for anyone involved directly or indirectly in learning and development.

NOT FOR DUMMIES
Never having been a teacher, I had hoped for at least one simple lesson plan format. The words "Lesson Plan" couldn't even be found -- certainly not in the index. Instead of a straightforward lesson plan template, this book offered a number of competing format that I can only guess were meant to be such. This book seemed even more detailed and complex than the industry's standard, "Mastering the Instructional Design Process." Thus, this book is NOT FOR THIS DUMMY.
