Metaphor: ReFantazio Launch Edition - PlayStation 5

For me, this excels in every category for an RPG and became one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. The combat is turn based; a ton of fun for those who love strategy, with many ways to play without ever needing to look up builds. Just experiment and do what’s fun for you and fits your tactics and expand as you gain abilities. Most RPGs I’ve played I usually amass items and ignore various abilities as “unnecessary” or “gimmicky”, where here I felt I used way more items in and out of combat and it had me trying and using a lot more abilities/combinations between characters, which kept it fun and interesting in finding better ways beat enemies. Music is excellent, memorable and fits the story so well. Story is excellent and feels overall well paced with combat. The main story has many emotional moments with twists and turns, while also giving you great side characters with their own back story. You fall in love with the characters and the creators do a great job making you feel for them and the overall story. All conversations are text based with great voice acting on all main story dialogue. Some dialogue is only text based in some side quest and any minor dialogue, and they did this well imo. Great art style for everything, wish they did more anime cut scenes, but doesn’t take away from the gameplay/story.

I'd been listening to the OST from this game for a while before ever purchasing it. I finally decided to buy it on sale, but it is easily worth every dollar and then some at regular price. The soundtrack, the cast of characters, the deep philosophical, moral, and political storyline... This game launched itself straight into the list of my favorite games of all time. I never knew truly what was going to happen next and I was always excited for whenever I had free time to dive back into the world of Euchronia. If you're a huge fan of the Persona series then this should be right up your alley!

Great game for those who are fans of turn based RPGS. If you are a Persona fan you will enjoy this title and it still features the friendship and developing stats mechanic. There is no dating or romance mechanic which isn't a loss at all because the story doesn't need it. Combat is a fun mix of action and turn based combat where you can damage the enemy to cause a stun effect before turn based combat begins. Just like other SMT/Persona games you have weaknesses due to weapon types/magic. The soundtrack is great though not on the level of Persona 5 or Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The Japanese and American voice acting is superb so you will learn to love the characters no matter the language. Buy this game if you are looking for a fun new IP with a great class system and a combat system that is easy to learn.

Talking Simulator. Great game and very promising for Atluss' future but it has a crap ton of talking in it and over 2 hour introduction before actually playing. Its a very good game though and the system if one of the best job change systems I have had the pleasure of playing.

This game opened my eyes to Atlus’ amazing ability to tell compelling stories in gaming. You have to view their releases as half video game and half anime series. These games have a very large amount of dialogue but this is what draws you into the story and that’s what propels you through the hundred hour long runtime. I could never get into persona games because of the high school/teenage setting. But Metaphor changed my mind simply because of how compelling their storytelling skills are and how fun the turn based combat is. I have since gone back and played through Persona 5, now playing Persona 3 Reload. Atlus has become one of my favorite developers because of how much I enjoyed Metaphor. My advice is enjoy the game and don’t try to rush through it, just try to enjoy the experience of playing the game, however long it takes you.

After seeing the reveal almost 2 years ago and keeping up with a lot of the trailers I can say this game does not disappoint in the slightest. I am a huge fan of developer Atlus' games, with Persona 5 Royal being my favorite game of all time, so I was going in with high expectations and somehow this game managed to surpass all of them in virtually every single aspect. The visuals and art are unmatched, the gameplay is fun and stylish and the story is unlike no others. It is a worthy purchase filled to the brim with content and a metanarrative that is sure to stick with you for life. Metaphor has one of the most poetic and profound messages in all of gaming, and it is not afraid to tackle themes like racism and inequality , and it does so in very smart ways. It has a message rooted within the ideals of a just society, and it is a must play for any JRPG fan, or RPG fan in general. Do not miss out on this game.

This is a great game with eye popping visual styles throughout its design. The menu system is intuitive and the flow of combat is fun. I am not really keen on the ability to attack some enemies outside of an actual battle. Kinda makes those encounters too easy and blura the lines between turn based and action rpgs in a way I am not fond of, but that is just a persona opinion. My only real complaint is that the start of the game takes so long to get moving. But once it does, it is a great experience. This is my intro to Atlas games, so Im looking forward to the Persona series.

Good RPG very nice story & gameplay

Está increíble, hace mucho que no me divertía tanto con un RPG hecho y derecho. Debes saber que es larguísimo y lento en su historia. Es como ver un anime de fantasía de esos de 1,000 capítulos. Sistema de combate perfecto. Música perfecta.

Similar game play to the Persona and SMT series in a new setting. Good story and fun to play.

This is one of the best game you could get among games that released in 2024. No Atlus and their hit series Persona fans should miss out on this. Great music, story, and gameplay. Only negative thing I could think of is somewhat meh graphic compared to other current gen games, as it uses their own graphic engine from Catherine, but that does not mean it is ugly to look at. I strongly suggest you to try this game if you have not yet.
