Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph 2.0, Bluetooth Compatible

So far, I'm very unimpressed. First, the battery cover is of the antiquated screw-secured variety, instead of the slide-lock type. Even worse is the fact that it is smooth and recessed, while also very tight fitting. In other words, it is very difficult to remove. Secondly, the battery compartment is too narrow to accommodate all AA batteries. I was unable to put my rechargeable AA batteries in (and get them to stay in, without popping back out.) I had to resort to AAA batteries, which aren't secure, but kinda work. I haven't taken it to the range yet, but thought I would offer my initial and disappointing impression. The third issue for me is the instructions tell you to search the app store for an app that doesn't exist by the name they give you. After downloading a couple likely candidates, I found on that will connect, but doesn't behave the way prescribed by the manual. In the end, the chronograph just continue sening error shot attempts to my phone, despite no shots being taken; it was just sitting on a table. I'm sending this one back. I will probably bite the bullet and by the Garmin radar model.

The bluetooth and the app are absolute garbage. The basic functions of the chronograph are great. I'm a computer geek and could not get the bluetooth or the app to function using two different devices. I'm just writing this off as not worth my time. Fortunately the chronograph display has nice large numbers that are easy to see and write down from the recommended operating distance. The number stays up until you take another shot so you don't have to drop your gun and rush for a piece of paper. For the time I saved giving up on bluetooth, I can write a speadsheet that looks like it will function much better than the app. Overall, downgraded one star for advertising the bluetooth and completely failing. If you pretend they never mentioned bluetooth, it would be a solid 5.

Has a known issue with the bluetooth not working at all, yet they (Caldwell) continue to sell them without fixing the issue... At least the chronograph part seems to work okay. Buyer beware!

Horrible…do not buy

Chronograph never worked as I unboxed it. I contacted Amazon and was told it wasn't returnable. Although it was purchased at Amazon I sent an email to Caldwell and they will send me a new one. Kudos for Caldwell.

Could not get it to pair to Android devices. Luckily I also have an iPad mini and that paired flawlessly. Will update once I get to use it.

It read accurate enough for my purposes a few times before I started having issues. Placed the batteries in and tried to turn it on but nothing. Turned it back over to take the batteries out and the contacts were changing colors and the plastic around the battery tray started melting/smoking. This happened multiple times too. Reached out to Caldwell's customer service over a week ago now and still no response from them. Too far past for Amazon's return window too. Crap product and crap customer service from Caldwell. Never buying again.

This was my SECOND Caldwell chronograph. The first one worked fine but I gave it to a buddy. The second one only showed err3 no matter what I tried. So I sent it back. Now I’m waiting for an Amazon credit which Amazon said will take a MONTH to receive. Foolish policy by Amazon because I had already decided to use the refund/credit on ANOTHER purchase. Hey Amazon, it’s considered stupid to punish your customers!

pessimo
