Synopsis This volume combines the two existing "Schaum's Cost Accounting Outlines" to consolidate the material and at the same time bring it up to date. A single volume covering the whole course will be more attractive to students and better serve their needs. Consolidation has been achieved mainly by eliminating overlap of problem types; no essential topics have been omitted. About the Author James Cashin was Emeritus Professor of Accoounting at Hofstra University, where he was formerly Chairman of the Accounting Department. Used it in college, now using it for the CPA.
I purchased this a few years ago when taking cost accounting in school and now as I prepare for the CPA I must say, this guide is still a fantastic companion. This subject can get pretty crazy considering there is tons of theory, costing methods, classifications, analysis etc... This outline cuts straight through the fluff.In short, each of the chapters are presented as follows a) brief explanation of the concept (typically a few paragraphs and bullet points) b) example/s of the concept c) various problems d) solutions.

Highly recommend Schaum's outline series in accounting
Wonderful addition to my class work in cost accounting. It is great to have example problems with answers included to know whether or not you are understanding the concepts involved in answering class questions.

Schaums Outline of Cost Accoutning
I did not find this book helpful. I was really looking for something to clarify the subject and it did not seem to do that. Thank you
