The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness Review: Title is a bit misleading - Mindfulness is wonderful, and they do a good job of teaching it. I've had serious depression, and I've studied mindfulness and done meditation. But I think the title is a bit misleading. It's not actually a way *through* depression. It's more like a way to *prevent* depression. Review: Having experienced recurring depression since the age of 35, (I am now 72), I had given up. The first episode was the worst, experienced active plans to not carry on. I have two children, so that is the protective factor, but each episode carries this sense that 'what is the point'. I get 6 months, of depression usually, then a period of no depression. I am terrified of each recurrence, which is maybe 20 times so far. Somehow, I had worked out, that fighting it, did not work, and had recently given up even trying, so this book explains how the primitive brain, sees my 'fight' against myself, as 'danger', and is reinforced each time I denied, ignored, distracted, etc. So, I discovered that Mindfuiness is the newest theory, and completely agree that Meditation is a safe way to allow the emotions to show up, as often I am numb, and to experience the body sensations, which freak me out. Wonderful that this programme is in the UK, and becoming mainstream. I am eager to put the plan into action. Thank you all you wonderful Drs.

Title is a bit misleading
