Berserk: The Golden Age Arc - Blu-ray

This is the best version of the golden age imo. Of course there are some details left out, but the animations amazing and the battle with zod is much cooler

For being used, it came in looking brand new. If you’re a berserk fan like I am you’ll enjoy this. Not as good as 97 but still worth watching

Alright, it’s a solid 4.5 that speed runs the story, character development, and overlooks a lot of great stuff the 1997 version does better. Your missing out on a lot of how the characters act, feel, think, interact with each other, the kaska and guts relationship isn’t as well developed. But, this version moves a lot faster and has a hand fed kind of approach to explaining things to the audience. It’s a good version for today’s ADHD look at the phone, don’t think, don’t have empathy, or lack of appreciation for art crowd. Nevertheless the story, although in crumbs instead of the whole loaf is still there, and those crumbs are still so freaking good. As good as the 97 version? No. But still good nevertheless. Other things I don’t like is the aggressive use of computer graphics in this version. Wish it remained hand drawn. I don’t care about crave cgi motion tracking shots, it’s not worth the trade off for hand drawn craftsmanship.

As a Berserk fan, this was exactly what I expected it to be on DVD!

Everything came as it should

There is mostly only good things to say about this golden age movie trilogy. The quality is very high , the voice acting is GREAT, the story is the best story in any piece of media layered with depth and nuance and at times it’s gorey as hell ! The very few negatives about this trilogy is that in some instances the animators use CGI for the 3d scenes and since they squish the entire golden age into 3 movies there is inevitably minor details that are left out. But the 3d animation did get noticeably better over the course of the movies as if they got more familiar and proficient at utilizing animation he CGI tech as time went on . Nothing in the movies looks bad but you will probably notice when it switches from 2d to 3d animation . That all being said the story is still told incredibly well and certain parts do look better than the 97 anime due to technology . Would highly recommend to any fan of berserk or dark fantasy. 4.5 stars or an easy 9/10 !!! Griffith did nothing wrong
