What size is the triangular opening? My cats are extra large

The finished dimensions of the Kitty Korner Door "Flap" are approximately 10" X 14" X 10". Most people find even their large cats will fit. If you uncertain take a large cardboard box, cut a corresponding opening in one corner put your Chonk inside and see if they can get out.

The "flap" is designed to be 10"x14"x10". Is it possible to cut a flap that is 12"x17”x12" to accommodate a taller cat? Or will the hinge not work?

Most residential doors in the US today are hollow core. The Kitty Korner Door is designed to mount to the normal interior framing in a door. Increasing the size, not only causes issues with available mounting points but also can significantly change the weight of the "flap". In addition a larger flap will create more leverage on the hinge and mounting points. Kitty Korner does NOT recommend increasing the "flap" size to make a larger opening.

If I order the right swinging door, will it fold up on the inside or the outside of my door?

The Kitty Korner is designed for the "Flap" to fold towards the side of the door where you can see the hinges protruding. Depending upon the door this side might be considered either the inside or outside depending upon configuration. It is possible to do a non-standard install where the "Flap" flips AWAY from the hinged side of the door. To do this type of install a modification will need to be made to the doors, door jamb and the opposite kit would need to ordered.
