If you have Home Assistant for home automation and need some leak sensors these work great (as of the 2025.01 release of Home Assistant). But you need to understand how they work 1) They only work over bluetooth. This is good, keeps the battery life long 2) You need some whole house bluetooth receivers. If you happen to have shelly devices with the bluetooth capability (Like the plus series) then you're all set. Because Home Assistant can configure the shelly switches to listen and pickup bluetooth signals from all over the house. If you have these things, then setup is easy. Pop the included AAA batteries in, check Home Assistant and it will say it detected a Switchbot Leak Detector. Click "Yes, set it up" and you're done (but give it a better name). Shows up with the proper icon (water drop) and type (moisture). Now the real fun is the automation. I have a zwave whole house water shutoff device. It will turn the quarter turn valve on my incoming water line to my house. I grouped all my leak detectors and created an automation that says "If the group (IE any one of the group) detects water then shut off the whole house water valve". Tested it out and within 1-2 seconds of a water drop the valve is turning off. It also sends me a notification too. The sensors themselves are very sensitive. The top is dished a little so if a single drop of water hits the top it will likely set it off. The bottom contacts are pretty sensitive too but would take a very small puddle just due to how the sensor is on the bottom and water spreads. They do have an alarm too, it's not super loud, but it will get your attention if you're in the same room. Mostly though I bought them for the Home Assistant integration. There are cheaper sensors if you just want an alarm when water hits them. Water damage is the worst thing for a house, and also the most likely. Toilets, sinks, washing machine, water heater, anything with water should have a sensor next to it and ideally some automation to cut the water. In 20 years of home ownership I've only had 2 major issues and both were water related (water heater once, washing machine second). I'm all prepared to never have another one (fingers crossed!) I have 12 of these spread out around my house.

These come with very easy to read instructions. (Written by an English speaking writer). The directions are clear, concise and the monitors are easy to set up and test. They come with batteries. I tested with a semi-damp paper towel prior to putting them in their final position and they alarmed (you can control the loudness - most other sensors you cannot) and sent an alert to my phone. They can sense if the liquid is coming from under the sensor or dripping on top of the sensor. I am very pleased with this product. As side note, you can purchase separately a device that can turn off the water in your house. I may get that at a later time.

These little things work very well...they go off with even the slightest bit of water . the alarm is a decent level of loud depending on the size of your home and where its located. I have them near toilets and near my water heater, laundry. Under sinks. where there are high pressure water lines. I wish they could link to a wifi/or direct device to device connection to an emergency shut off valve. thats my only issue with it...(unless im missing something) but letting you know you have a leak is cool, shutting the water off at the main is Great!! becuz after it tells you there is a leak...if you are not home, OMG, u will freak out and then have to get home...so having it be able to link to a emergency auto shut off valve would complete the circle . they should make one , then this system would be Amazing

I am very pleased with the switchbot detectors. I purchased them because I had an unknown long term leak from my dishwasher that caused about $15k in damage to my home. After the repairs, I needed some peace of mind. The detectors are small and seem to have great battery life. Getting them set up on my Wi-Fi network was simple and I like having the ability to get email alerts in addition to the audible alarm and push notifications from the app. I feel much better knowing that if I have a future leak I will know about it before it causes lots of damage.

Easy to install and love the fact that it does not need a hub, worked very well-detect water leak and send notifications through wifi. Exactly what I needed.

The way these sensors are set up, you have to somehow magically know where the water is going to drip into the well on the sensor. I walked in to find my air conditioner flooded my office, and I didn't get a single notification. I love Switchbot products, but this was a huge letdown. UPDATE: Review changed. I was really upset when the sensor I put in my office with the leaking a/c didn't go off. In hindsight, I'm not sure WHY it didn't go off that time, but I left all of the sensors where they are and they've saved my butt. The hot water hookup to my washing machine started leaking and I didn't realize. The sensor went off, I checked it and was able to fix it. Except... I'm not very bright. I had put a bucket under the hookups and put the drain hose from the washer into the bucket when I was checking out all the faucets and the connections. I didn't do laundry for a few days because I wanted to keep an eye on everything. When I went to do laundry again... the sensor went off again... because I hadn't put the hose back into the drain. This saved my butt. I still had a mess. But it was a lot smaller than it COULD have been The sensors on the bottom DO work and are quite sensitive. I later got water on my carpet while emptying the drain hose from a portable a/c in my living room. I didn't think it was close enough to the sensor, but it went off almost right away. I'm not sure why that first "flood" in my office happened and I didn't get a notification, but I have been happy with the results ever since. I did make some modifications to my portable a/c usage. I now have a silicone mat with an edge (like they sell for under sinks or pet food) under every single one. That way if there is a small leak, it will be contained, cause the sensors to go off, and will hopefully prevent any damage. Hasn't happened yet, but I am confident these will help.

The SwitchBot WiFi Water Sensor is one of those devices you hope you never need—but you’ll be really glad you have it. Setup is quick, especially if you're already in the SwitchBot ecosystem. It connects over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so there’s no separate hub necessary to fuss with, and alerts hit your phone fast when water is detected. I would encourage anyone to connect it to their existing hub if possible. Switchbot has a lot of them (some even built into other smart devices) and I have mine included with not only Switchbot's hub but my Homey Pro. The sensor itself is small and easy to tuck under sinks, behind toilets, near water heaters, or by washing machines. Sensitivity is good—it can catch even small leaks before they turn into expensive disasters. The app notifications are loud and clear, and you can also tie it into automations (like turning off smart plugs or triggering other devices). Mine is under my kitchen sink where I've already had an issue and was kicking myself for not already having this device. Trust me it's very inexpensive for peace of mind!

Every leak detector will most likely work soon as you get it set it up and test it out: If it does not then you can get it replaced immediately. What really matters is when you have it in operation over a period of time: If the sensor fails for some reason be it battery or if it just goes dead on account of a manufacturing defect 367 days from purchase, you are no way to tell - no way to tell when the sensor went down - so you can go check on it: This could result in property damage - exactly what the sensor was intended to prevent as well as for you to replace the sensor. My sensor failed exactly this way. I don't know when it failed but it did not alert me to water when it should have. On inspection I found the batteries were good. I even worked with the company through multiple debugging emails and made a video for the company to show that it was defective. After going through all that they respond that I am now not under warranty and I have to buy a new one. I will buy a new one but from a more reliable brand - one that stands behind their product, those that will notify you if the hub detects a failure of the device. That is what you really need. Switchbot makes good innovate products, but the water lead detector is not one of them.

Yes, this is one of the devices that most people don't prioritize having or just start to discover their existence after a leak happened. Well, I've learned it the hard way after a pipe burst in attic and there was water damage all the way to the ground floor. And funny point is that in life we all pay sometimes a ridiculous amount of insurances, some compulsory, some by choice but often useless. These flood sensors are your kind of equivalent of insurance or better said prevention from consequences of a heavy flood, just long term and relatively cheap. And if we consider what major leaks can cost - then super cheap. Let me quickly summarize the key points so far: 1. Works and works fast. Either leaks or drips, once the liquid touches the sensor you will know instantly. Just make sure you are positioning it correctly and if possible in such places so you avoid false alarms. What do I mean? Well I've placed one of mines in the bathroom corner, close to the toilet. One of the evenings we all simply jumped up of the loudness of the alarm, which was due to my sons poor aiming in the toilet. I'm under impression that loudness and unexpected scream scared him so much that it made the aiming situation even worse haha. By the way don't worry, you can change the alarm volume and duration and this is exactly what I did after this case. 2. Decent app and good notifications. Well, this one is as important as the device itself, because if leaks happen when you're not home - you want to know about this fast and be able to act fast too. Actually, it's important when you're at home too. Beside reminders and emails - the phone pop-ups are very informative and useful. Just make sure you allow them! Setup was quick and straightforward, there is no rocket science behind it. I've tested it so far with Alexa and it works. I expect it to work with other claimed services from Google and Siri, but I'd personally won't rely on this as number one interaction or communications channel. I hope for my Alexa just to notify me when batteries are low - this will be super helpful, as obviously you want these sensor to be on and running and not dead if a leak happens. Connectivity throughout the house for me is also good, but make sure to test it if you live in castles or spread multiple sensors in separately standing granny flats, garages, etc. Don't just trust the claimed 120 meters as it will depend a lot on build materials, interference, etc. To summarise: This is a device that you hope that you will never need, but trust me you want it to be in your house just in case, for peace of your mind, because if a leak happens, you will thank yourself a lot. And if you knew about such sensors and did not buy one - it will be bitter! Anyway, hope my 5 cents help a bit. Stay well and dry haha! Cheers!

Dopo diversi mesi di utilizzo si è dimostrato un prodotto affidabile e molto utile. L’installazione è semplicissima: si configura in pochi minuti tramite l’app SwitchBot, senza bisogno di hub, e può essere posizionato facilmente anche in spazi ristretti. Il sensore rileva immediatamente la presenza di acqua e invia notifiche istantanee sullo smartphone, oltre ad attivare un allarme sonoro ben udibile. Ottima anche l’affidabilità nel tempo: nessun falso allarme e batteria ancora in ottime condizioni. This is a great little piece of kit that has helped me whilst away. It actually activated whilst I was travelling so I could send somebody around to have a look. Turned out to be a false alarm but thankful for it letting me know rather than coming home to a water leak. It’s easy to use and set up. The iPhone app is straightforward and uses notification alerts. I’ve had this for a few months and the battery seems to be OK. I have recommended this sensor to others and will be buying more in the future. A quick, easy, and cost effective way to protect yourself and your home!

Tras varios meses de uso he de indicar mi total satisfacción con el producto. Compré un pack de tres tras haber probado el producto individualmente. Los tengo distribuidos por la cocina, baños y lavadero, de tal forma que me permite detectar cualquier fuga de agua antes de que provoque un problema grave. Especial mención cebo hacer del sensor que coloque junto a la toma de agua de la nevera americana, gracias a lo que me di cuenta de una ligera perdida en el conducto plástico, que de haberse rodo habría provocado un escape grande. Indicar que además del pitido que emite el propio sensor, los tengo vinculados con mi aplicación Alexa, que me permite recibir una aviso de alarma a través los altavoces , además de la notificación al móvil que tengo configurado en la propia app de Switchbot. Por todo ello debo indicar que el producto es totalmente recomendable.

Ayer recibí el producto muy bien embalado incluye pilas que se ven en el video y una pua para abrir la tapa que va un poco dura para asi conseguir que se estanco. El funcionamiento es muy simple tienes 2 pines arriba y otros 2 abajo que al notar que cierran el circuito disparan la alarma. La vinculación con la aplicación de switchbot a sido casi inmediata simplemente aprietas durante 2 segundo el único botón del dispositivo y ya vincula siguiendo los pasos de la app. Conectas a la wifi crea el equipo pones las credenciales de la wifi de tu casa y a disfrutar. La app es muy clara incluso tienen un punto muy original y deja que lo configuremos para que salte la alarma cuando no detecta agua, ideal para acuarios o sistemas de riego. Las notificaciones me llagan a la perfección a mi smartphone y smartwatch además al añadirlo a la app ya me sale en mi ecosistema de Google home sin problemas. Creo que es un muy buen producto y mas por el precio que tiene.
