Great Design, Perfect Size and Shape for Crushing Spices.
I have purchased at least 10-12 mortars and pestles over past 40 years of all sizes, styles and materials, including granite, basalt ceramic, stoneware, traditional Thai pottery mortar and Mexican stone molcajete, which I used to make curry blends from scratch, crushing spices for sauces, baking and barbecuing. The large Berghoff mortar is the best design and size so far.

Wonderful addition to my cooking utensils.
I needed something small to use in the kitchen and this is perfect. I’m using it to grind dried herbs from my garden and it’s working out fine for my needs. Sturdy, stylish and not to heavy.
