Can this be used on regular non stainless steel? Is the plating process different between the two?

This solution is really only designed to be used on Steel or Stainless steel. I would be too strong for other metals.

When electroplating stainless steel, do you use nickel bright after woods nickel strike? And then gold plate?

There is no need. Most stainless is shinny and doesn’t require a nickel plate for a diffusion barrier.

How long is the shelf life when opened?

For our products, Shelf Life refers to storage of unopened containers. Once the Wood's has been opened the shelf life may be two years as long as there is no contamination, the product was not left in an open container for too long, and after being returned to the original container it sealed absolutely tight.

Can nickle strike be used over nickle plating.

Nickel strike is an activator to stainless steel and is a much stronger solution. Surface activator is used on Nickel I would not suggest using nickel strike on Nickel.
