Every Time We Meet at the Dairy Queen, Your Whole Fucking Face Explodes

As with all of Mellick's books, you get the 1st paragraph as an 'ease' into the new world he has created, thereafter it's hold on tight as he makes no apologies for rushing you headlong into the bizarre and disturbed. Every Time we Meet is a brilliantly crafted subversion on boy meets girl / boy falls in love with girl / girl has a secret. I read this in one sitting whilst on holiday and finished it in a daze, literally looking around me and feeling totally disorientated as I returned to 'normality'.

You know what? It was a wild ride, bizzare to the point of me questioning why Im reading it. But strangely sweet. And over all a story of unmeasurable love. I really enjoyed it

Strangely moving.

This is my first Carlton Mellick book, but it certainly wont be my last! A real cute love story, with all the weirdness and gore thrown in. Loved it! Onto the next....

A love story that made me not want to put it down. I really enjoyed this. It was a fabulous narrative following the guys journey of loving a girl whose face explodes.

Reading Carlton Mellick III is like getting a literary massage, all my stress fades away.

Carlton's intro explains this is partially based on a true story around the rich girl on the bus as he travelled to school. It only deviates in the sense that she gave him an eyeball growing space disease, that can happen. Whereas Spiderweb exploded often, which is ridiculous! There is a moral in this book also that becomes clear later, don’t have sex with your girlfriend, unless their parents are there to help you through it. A lesson I wish I had learned when I was a teenager.Anyway, the story and the review.Spiderweb is the odd girl at school, she and Ethan never speak to each other, but they sit together, as close and as tight as they can.Finally, he passes her a note asking her out how our hearts leapt for joy!This story is a love story between two kids, deeply in love. Unfortunately, Spiderweb tends to explode the hotter Ethan makes her, which makes things messy.But who says the path of true love goes smoothly?This is a beautiful book. It made me laugh a lot and equally made me appreciate the nature of love. This should be essential reading at every school on the planet. Kids could learn from this!Anyway, in honour of this, I wrote a poem celebrating it.When we kissHer face explodes!And when we touchHer skull lights up!Oh, how I love my spiderweb girl!Thank you, and good night!

Carlton Mellick III sa il fatto suo anche se ha un nome complicato che non ho capito il 3 a numero romano che vuol dire e forse l'ha spiegato da qualche parte, ma non ho capito dove o mi è sfuggito e non l'ho letto.Qui c'è una storia di amore tra ragazzini che la ragazzina timida è innamorata e esplode letteralmente ogni volta che si emoziona troppo.Una roba nucleare che Carlton sviluppa con adeguata maestria e, niente scrive proprio bene. Poi magari può non piacere la trama particolare, ma lo leggi dall'inizio alla fine e poi dici, no, non mi è piaciuto, oppure dici, si, mi è piaciuto.Questo, si, mi è piaciuto, a parte forse la fine che è troppo finale alla fine, io ci avrei messo una di quelle possibilità che fai un seguito invece anche se sembra qui, no, penso di no. Ma, per carità, è come dire che il delay sul rullante è brutto a prescindere. Io che ne so? Non sono mica un batterista.Bello, molto ok davvero.

Ethan ist ein ganz normaler Teenager, doch dann verliebt er sich und alles wird anders. Erst sitzt er nur neben Jill genannt "Spiderweb" im Bus, doch dann fängt er an mehr für sie zu empfinden. Dabei gibt es aber ein großes Problem, denn Jill ist eine Außenseiterin. Dafür gibt es zwei Gründe: Zum einen ist sie immer von Spinnen umgeben, was ihr den Spitznamen "Spiderweb" eingebracht hat, und jedes Mal, wenn Gefühle in ihr hochkochen ... nunja... explodiert ihr Gesicht. Und ihr Vater muss es dann wieder zusammen flicken. Als sie beginnt für Ethan mehr zu empfinden, fängt ihr Gesicht an zu blubbern und es explodierte einfach. Doch sie mag Ethan sehr. Trotz der Narben empfindet Ethan genau das Gleiche für Spiderweb, doch er weiß nicht so ganz genau, wie er mit der Situation umgehen soll. Als er sie dann in einer stillen Minute küsst, explodiert sie wieder, doch das ist nicht das einzige Problem, denn Ethan wird bei ihrem Kuss recht stark verletzt. Davon merkt er nur nichts, da das Blut von Spiderweb als Betäubung wirkt. Man kann Ethans Gesicht aber nicht so lassen, und deshalb nimmt Jill ihn mit zu sich nach Hause. Ihr Vater soll sie selbst und auch Ethan wieder herrichten. Dabei nimmt er Ethan zur Seite, denn dieser soll wissen, dass wenn sich Spiderweb in jemanden verleibt, dass sie sich richtig in ihn verliebt. Und zwar für immer. Und da gibt es noch eine Kleinigkeit, die den beiden erzählen muss, bevor sie Sex miteinander haben werden, denn es müssen gewisse Vorbereitungen getroffen werden...Wertung:Neben "The Haunted Vagina" ist dies hier der wohl abgedrehteste Roman von Carlton Mellick, denn das, was hier dargestellt ist, kann man sich doch eigentlich gar nicht ausdenken, oder? Ein Mädchen, welches bei Empfindungen von Liebe explodiert. Fast wie in dem "Die Ärzte-Song: Meine Ex-(plodierte) Freundin. Das macht dieses Buch hier mit Absicht total strange und auch recht komisch, und auch mit geringeren Englischkenntnissen kann man dieses Buch hier gut verstehen. Oben ist die Handlung grob zusammengefasst, aber es gibt noch weitere Merkwürdigkeiten, die mit Absicht hier nicht erwähnt wurden. Mit seinen 106 Seiten im DIN A5-Format (und damit leider etwas kleiner als seine Vorgänger) ist es auch zwischendurch gut lesbar. Die Geschichte ist natürlich überschaubar bei einer solchen Seitenlänge, aber das ist man von Carlton Mellick gewohnt.Ob es nun irgendwann übersetzt wird oder nicht ist mir ziemlich egal, denn ich hab mich hier prächtig unterhalten gefühlt. Im Bizarro Genre ganz ganz großes Tennis und in meiner persönlichen Rangliste die Nummer 2 hinter dem oben genannten Werk.
