Considered the OEM Bilsteins but these got such great reviews that it really swayed my decision
Direct bolt on replacement for my original shocks that were really shot after 130,000 miles. Considered the OEM Bilsteins but these got such great reviews that it really swayed my decision. These are very expensive but it was worth every penny. Initially felt slightly stiff but either I'm getting used to them or they are loosening up slightly. These really restored my ride quality. I've hit some potholes hard that I couldn't dodge and these really do a wonderful job dampening. General highway driving I would say that the ride was firm but not harsh. Going into bends these help keep the truck level. Braking dive changed drastically for the better. Overall money well spent. Even the guys at the local garage had a good time making fun of them. "Hey look at the truck with the chrome bilsteins!" Although they are actually a brushed aluminum housing they do look good. Thanks Amazon!

Very nice shocks
I replaced the front shocks on my 2004 Avalanche with these Bilstein shocks. Super easy and better hardware that the previous shocks. So far ride is way better and they look cool.

Cranked torsion bars
After cranking my torsion bars, the ride quality got progressively worse. I replaced the aftermarket Vigor front "air" shocks with these and it feels so much better. Much more planted and now my truck isn't rattling itself to pieces on every bump. Definitely worth it if you plan on lifting your ride. 2005 GMC Yukon xl Denali

Good Replacement on Z71 Tahoe
The challenge when buying shocks and looking at reviews that say too hard and too soft is the reviewer. Some people like soft floaty rides and slow cornering and some people like the European style of firmness and hard cornering. Chevy Tahoe owners tend to be in the floaty camp because the Tahoe is viewed more of a car and less of a truck. I am in the firm camp. These were easy to install if you have done this before and the ride is nicely firm. It doesnt rattle your teeth going over railroad tracks but it doesnt float at all. Not as firm as our European car but as close as you are going to get. OVerall a good replacement for the Z71

Way softer than what I had!
After putting the truck on the ground, I gave the front end the old bounce test and was blown away by the Cadillac squishyness as if the shocks weren't even there! Way softer than the aftermarket no-name twin tubes I had on. And that's just it. These are MONOTUBES... with a much more dynamic dampening curve. Super light on the short stroke compressing just the gas and ramping up stiffness on the bigger strokes. The result? Well, most notable improvement is in the dips and railroad crossings. Way faster compensation and smoother ride. The trade-off? Initial body roll is immediate if you yank the steering wheel. Not necessarily a bad thing so don't be alarmed. It actually equates to better handling. The suspension is just settling to where it's already going to be, just faster. I don't know how people are saying these are stiffer. I drive a half-ton.

Perfect for my lift leveled Avalanche!
These shocks exceed expectations in every way. After I "cranked" the stock torsion keys up to their limits to level my 2005 Avalache 2wd, the stock height shocks I had on the vehicle did not have enough height to allow the front suspension to move through its full range of motion; causing a very choppy ride over bumps and off camber parts of roads when the now too short shocks were working against the torsion bars. These Bilsteins solved that problem, and then some! My truck corners flatter, dips the nose less under braking, and rides smoother than it ever did with any brand of shock I've had on before."(AC Delco, Gaberial, Monroe). Even if you haven't lifted your vehicle, Bilstein rates these for vehicles ranging from stock height up to 3 inches of lift, so don't sweat it. Just buy these shocks if you want a comfortable ride from your truck again. One thing to note, these shocks with my coil sprung rear end seem to squat slightly more and dip more over the rough stuff when towing. If you're maxing out your tow rating regularly you might want a heavier duty option.
