Heart warming read
I wasn't gripped from the start of this book, unlike Michelle's other books. But when I got a few more chapters in, I was hooked. This is a heart warming well written novel.Well developed characters, a story full of love, friendship, heartbreak, and family life. I loved the character Horatio, every family should have a grandfather like him. I highly recommend this book, another good read from Michelle Jackson! Keep them coming Michelle!

Mostly set in Australia and it was vividly and beautifully described. Having been in Oz a few times I could picture the places Michelle wrote about. It was a lovely story and I really enjoyed it.I'm looking forward to reading more of Michelle's books.

What a great story. It was full of emotion, poignancy and love. The characters were very strong and very different. It all worked out very well for most of them in the end. It was a bit or a rollercoaster from time to time, but I loved it.

brilliant book for cosy nights in
This book was good from the offset. Very easy to get in to and kept me hooked. Because it was that bit longer, I found myself reading when I woke in the middle of the night lolGot lost in its locations between Ireland and Australia 😄📖

More than just a romance
This book combines the themes of the journey of emigration and the journey of self discovery by various characters, and the resulting impact on family relations, friendship, and romance. Plus there's a hint of travelogue about it in the obviously well researched descriptions of Perth and surrounds I thought it was a cleverly crafted and well written book.I must admit that the main character, Julia, got up my nose quite a bit. Her propensity for matchmaking and her know-it-all attitude reminded me of Jane Austen's Emma, whom I also never warmed to. However, as with the other characters in this book, Julia comes across as a "real" person with both strengths and weaknesses.I downloaded this book because it was a freebie, because it had an Irish component, and because I was interested to see how a non-Perthite would write about my hometown. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately bought another book by this author. As an aside, the cover illustration depicts an American mailbox, not an Aussie letterbox. We don't have that little arm on the side which, I gather from movies, alerts posties that there's mail to be collected.

Fate finds a way.
An enjoyable read about friends and family. The characters consist mainly of Julia, her family and her best friend Ruth. In her effort to extract Ruth from a long term relationship with a married man Julia helps Ruth with a job change to Australia. It is a long way from her home in Ireland but Ruth has a mystery to solve about her mother's past and the address of 5 Peppermint Grove. This is a good book with a good storyline. I did have a small problem sorting out some of the Irish and Aussie phrases. The book was fun for me because I was aware of some of the locations because of online friends from Australia. It was a good light contemporary romance. I will be passing the authors name on to my friends.

Will not disappoint, wonderful story
I loved it from start to finish! The story was a little 'busy' for me in the beginning, lots of characters but the each had a part to playing the story. Once I got to know them then story took off. Its a story of stress because of the economic crash, people not sure if they have a job to go to or not, others having overspent in the good times finding that they have to pay back, the doom and gloom of unemployment. That is just an underlying element. Its also about true friendship between Julia and Ruth and also the love they have for their families, the sadness of people having to emigrate and the loneliness some face while away. A very real story which left me missing my hometown of Dublin but dying to travel now to Perth. I felt that Michelle Jackson brought Perth to life on the pages of the book. This is one of her best yet!

Interesting read
A lot of characters and story plots. Descriptions of Australia and Ireland and the life there were interesting but to many story lines made it confusing and tedious at times. It had some really intriguing situations but they never got fully developed. It was almost like reading outlines for a series of books with loosely related characters that knew each other all that got shoved into one book.

Not A Christmas Story
From the title and the book cover I expected this to be a book set during the holidays. It was not.Instead, it is a book about love of family, family secrets and travels between Europe and Australia. It is a great book. I enjoyed the descriptions of the scenery.

Good Book
I just finished the book this morning. It was a good book, but I was disappointed that the cover was misleading. This book came up on a site with other holiday books. This book had a few twists and turns, but it left a few characters hanging and the reader doesn't know what happen to them.

Great book
I loved this book for the rich culture it gave of both Ireland and Australia. The characters were interwoven in a believable story line I would recommend this book to friends.

a few distasteful scenes that ruined the book for me...
I enjoyed the storyline, but not the few intimate scenes that seemed totally unnecessary.I like "clean books", and do not enjoy having scenes like that thrown in - like in this book.
