Nice item, but overpriced
This figure set arrived today and it's great, there's no denying it. I loved the Jim Aparo artwork from Batman 497 and here we have his realisation in figure form. Batman looks suitably exhausted and Bane looks like a tall wrestler ready to break the Batman. This was the first Batman story arc I ever read and collected, as I was more a Superman fan, coming to that character just prior to his 'death'. Bane and Azrael have always been favourite Batman characters for me. Personally, I do have a few gripes about this set. Firstly, I find Batman's costume, too light blue. To me it looks too Adam West. I can't remember it being quite as light blue in the 497 comic, but I could be wrong, as I do recall the sheer intensity of his experiences during Knightfall led to him having to utilise extra costumes. Secondly, the blue tints to Bane's costume, look a bit too cartoonish for me. I realise it's to add the appearance of sheen to the material, but I just find it distracting. Thirdly, I had a bit of bother swapping over the hands on Bane. Maybe it was just the figure I own. Lastly, I do feel the price is too excessive for what it is. I know Bane is a 'mega fig', but I feel £50 to £60 is more reasonable. Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad I own it, but I just feel for 2 basic figures and not a whole lot of extras, it's just too pricey. Amazon have got it for £79.99 currently. I saw it listed pre-order on a famous auction site for between £120 to £150 - that's for a pre-order. I've also seen it for £70 on that auction site and £89.95 on a different UK figure website. Like I say, I'm glad I purchased it, but I do feel it's a bit too pricey. I can however definitely recommend it, especially if you were a fan of that amazing story arc. I'm always happy when the proper, original version of Bane is rendered in plastic, just like the original version of Doomsday. The original is best.

Bought new, came used
The item was delivered used. The box was torn on the bottom, and it had been resealed with sellotape, so no telling if it was the genuine item.

This was my first Mcfarlanes DC order anywhere and I must say I was quite happy. Apart from the detail on Bane I was quite happy with the quality of the figures. They are also 7 inch scale so they are bigger than Marvel Legends or Star Wars The Black Series so that's also good. Classic Bane from Lego Batman 1 and 2 has always been my favourite DC character (along with Killer Croc from the same games) and I am quite happy with it. Batman is also fine but was not the reason for buying this. He has your typical Mcfarlane weird bent legs but he still looks quite good and with the included bases he still stands properly. He also has a wired cape so that's a bonus. Two things I don't really like are the blue cell shading on Bane but it can be easily ignored and the lack of crunch articulation and legs that can't bend far enough to recreate the Knightfall image they include as a trading card. But other than that this is a solid product and can wholehaertedly recomend it!

Great action figures. I remembered the old comic with Jim Aparo art about broken bat. Collect them!
