Monstrum Cyborg 4X Prism Scope | BDC Reticle

This really surprised me. I'm switching to the Cyborg from a Vortex strike fire II with the Vortex 3x magnifier. I was very surprised. Mostly because I associate Monstrum with cheap Chinese trash but it seems like they are stepping up their game quite. It also looks like Chinese manufacturers are getting better. I was very impressed with the glass quality. It's not great but it is pretty good. I really like the BDC reticle and the illumination was cool as well. Really with the etched glass, there is a good chance I wont even use the even use the illumination. The overall build quality seems really good and it has held zero on my 5.56. The 4x magnification makes target acquisition a little slower than a red dot but it's not bad at all. Overall I wish I had bought this instead of spending 400+ on my Vortex setup. Very happy with the Cyborg so far.

I've purchased a few monstrum products and have been very happy with them, especially for their value. I wanted to try out prism scopes, and decided to give monstrum a try. This scope is pretty good in all honesty, the glass is great, the reticle is clear and the illumination the perfect brightness for lighting up the reticle clearly without scattering everywhere. The adjustment knobs are ok. I personally dont like the tool knob set up, but it is what it is, it has held zero up to 5.56 at least. The mount does its job. There are no lense covers/caps/killflashes to speak of, nor am I aware of any availible aftermarket. The biggest issue I have with this scope is the eye relief, it is pretty tight and unforgiving. I originally planned to toss this on a 10/22, but even after putting the scope as far back on the rail as possible, I could not get in the right place, which is a bummer because I otherwise would have loved it for that (it has since found an upper to call home, where the eye relief is much better) If you planned to put this on anything other than an AR, be aware.

This scope is a godsend if you have an astigmatism, because the reticule is clear and crisp. A little hard to get zerored, but once its dialed in this thing is accurate. Battery last a long time and the same great build quality as every Monstrum product that I have tried. Its easy to operate and a very good pricepoint like all Monstrum products.

This was my first prism sight after using many scope type sights over the year and I have to say this 4x Monstrum prism sight was a new and pleasurable experience. Disregard the reviews of those that have no idea as to how far away on the rail to mount the sight to eliminate “Scope Shadow” or not being able to quickly pick up the retinal. I prefer the green chevron over the red, making moa adjustments is quick and easy and using the bullet drop compensator (BDC) is easy to use once you have the sight zeroed for your preferred shooting distance all your required data is at your eye to hit targets further out or closer in. What’s not to like about this sight? I read reviews of whiners saying it’s too heavy, they can’t see through it, the eye box is too small, etc. these are kids that are trying to use a quality sight for paint ball shooting and not combat shooting and they haven’t a clue of the difference. Buy the sight, spend time in getting to know and understanding how the sight works, make your adjustments and enjoy one of the most affordable prism scopes available.

Kinda tall but optic looks clear

Pros: Very sturdy, Forgiving eyebox. Nice clear well-etched reticle. Holdovers are decent. Bit heavy if you aren't familiar with prisims. Seems they could make it a bit lighter without sacrificing any durability. Cons: Shake awake worked for the first day or 2, and then _never again_. One of the main reasons I choose this unit. A tad dark. An acog this is not. day and dusk are fine. Nighttime is challenging. Big eyebox notwitstanding, it likes to be a bit far back, annoying if you have a charging handle at the rear. Some complain about the mount but its okay other than being a lil heavy. A quick detach would be nice. If they made this a few grams lighter while upgrading the mount a bit, used better glass, and fixed the shake-awake, this would be worth 3x the cost. As is, it barely competes. Even though it has an interesting design, it is hard to recommend.

This optic has an illuminated reticle in red or green with variable brightness settings, but it is etched into the prism, so if the battery dies, the reticle is still there. Eye relief is critical at about 6 inches, which is more than enough for most rifles. Windage and elevation have 1/2 MOA adjustment and the protective caps have the tool needed to make adjustments. This appears to be a good quality optic without having to spend several hundred dollars.
