DC Deluxe Edition - For Collectors on a Budget
The first time I read Watchmen was back in 2006. I had to go through a whacked PDF copy of it because back then Amazon wasn't there to make life easy for us. It was such an excellent read that I had to get myself a copy and being in India, that's easier said than done. So, I did what I guess most people would have done during the pre-ecommerce boom, buy a second hand paperback copy from ebay and have it shipped to India. Fast forward to 2015, I chose this edition to replace and upgrade my original paperback copy. If you are planning on buying this edition, here are a few things you should know:1. The paperback edition is available at half the price of this edition and if you are not intending to make this a permanent addition to your library which can stand the test of time, my humble suggestion is to go for the paperback instead of the hardcover.2. The hardcover edition has a hybrid glued-sewn binding like most DC hardcovers which makes it a little tight. Mind you, there is no gutter loss but you will need to use some ungainly force to make the book lie flat on the table.3. Given the binding and if you handle your books properly, this edition will last for a long, long time without pages coming loose.4. If you are a collector like me, there are two options when it comes to a hardcover copy of Watchmen - this 2013 DC Deluxe Edition and the Absolute Edition. The Absolute Edition is the Holy Grail - A pure sewn binding, tons of bonus content, oversized, excellent build quality and comes in a slipcase. However, it costs roughly 4 times as much as the Deluxe HC.The 2013 Deluxe HC compromises slightly on build quality front but not enough to qualify as a deal breaker. Its a little larger than the original TPB print size and contains almost 85% of the bonus content you find in the Absolute edition. The pages inside are beautiful heavy glossy stock paper. The book has a matte finish dust jacket with Issue #1's cover on the inside. To sum up, if you are a collector on a budget, this edition is for you. Go for the Absolute edition if you have cash you can drop.I have been a fan of Moore since V for Vendetta and Watchmen was at par (maybe even above the bar set by V) with his other works but the sheer scale of the narrative was way beyond what I can describe in words. What I loved about the series was how deeply the plot was driven not just by the characters but also by the setting itself which had been fully realized in Dave Gibbons' art. Every one of the central characters, superheros and antiheroes, are unlike your standard DC or Marvel cardboard cutouts, deeply flawed and therefore human. Watchmen is prose presented in the guise of a comic book which makes it better than either medium.

A Classic.
I Loved the movie! I had seen it (Unedited) on the cinema hall. And was always keen on purchasing the graphic novel. The book is a Classic Graphic novel as well. No doubt... done in old comic book style! Go for it.

I already know that watchmen is a legendary in among comics and I bought it from Amazon.1. Delivery was as expected within 2 days.2. No damage, no other harm to the product.3. Experience with the seller Cloutail India is very good, thismy 3rd book (product) from them.Talking abt Watchmen, you don't have to be a comic book reader or fan. Just go for it and you will the Idea why it's a benchmark in the comic universe. It is listed among the top 200 writings of the 20th century. And if you are a collector then you must go for Hardcover.

Buy the deluxe edition for your shelf.!!
I am not gonna say a word about the story coz u already know what a thriller it is. I am just gonna help people decide which edition to buy. If your looking to buy this as a collectable but dont want to spend 4-5 k for the absolute edition then go for the deluxe edition. The binding is solid, covers are excellently designed(and frankly i like it more than the absolute edition cover), the paper quality(though not the photopaper) is very good and the coloring is amazing.! Everything said it is a nice edition for ur shelf. Now paperback is a good buy as well. The paper quality is not like the deluxe edition but worth the price totally, the art and the coloring is the same. Can't say much about the absolute edition. Havent seen one yet.

Who watches the Watchmen??
The book quality is really great, the artwork retains it's hand drawn originality. There is a lot of bonus content as well, for people looking to get an idea for how it was conceived.Along with all this, this is one of the greatest comics of all time, apart from arguably being one of the greatest books ever written.Buy it without any hesitation if you are a fan of Watchmen. And even if you are not a fan buy this to read one of the greatest stories ever written!

A MUST HAVE!
It is a gorgeous looking masterpiece. Be it the visuals or the storytelling it is addictive and breathtaking. It is really amazing what Zack Snyder did with this movie, it was a mammoth task to bring a novel of this nature into visuals but damn.I am completely in awe of this deluxe version.

This is a magnificent piece of fiction written by one of the greatest comic book writers , alan moore . Questions the reality of what would man with the power of superheroes produce towards the world . Its a critically aclaimed deconstruction of loss of humanity and briliiant display of the "god complex " .

Call me a Watchman now for more Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore. Genius and not optional.
Firstly I want to apologise to the great Alan Moore and especially to Dave Gibbons. Why?Well my first exposure to "WATCHMEN" was in the form of the 2009 movie. My reaction to it was total and utterly appalled disbelief and so I wrote everything to do with the movie off. It seemed so pointless and utterly devoid of any re-watchability.Firstly to Dave Gibbons I must profusely apologies because Rogue Trooper is one of my all time favourite comic book creations and his artwork has always blown me away. His Green Lantern work was also stunning so how dare I not even consider the WATCHMEN comic series. All I can do is apologize, my excuse is the movie turned me off.The same equally heart felt and very strong apology must be made to the great Mr Moore, who I will be seeking every scrap of his writing now(Swamp Thing here I come for starters.)WATCHMEN the comic series is totally, seriously mind blowingly stunning. The epic magnitude of the story is utterly superb and what makes it so incredible is that it is so far removed from your typical super hero black and white done to death good versus evil, hero sorts out the bad guys tale.Oh No, here we have a story which takes so much of the aspects to being human we all know exist, yet never seem to want to confront. Well what was most incredible here is how well it took the scary concept of atomic annihilation which is real even today, let alone the cold war period(did it ever really end when you think of todays wars for example?) and mixes it with human realities. The way the story takes the lives of the characters and wraps conspiracy, intrigue, human needs, greed and arrogance and finding the deeper meaning in actions taken is stunning.Alan Moore was 100% correct. WATCHMEN was created in a way that really shows what Comics can do with a mix of comic story, written passages(the background at the end of each chapter blew me away and adds to the story in unique special ways. They become the stories within the story.) and the artwork!!!!! I mean it wasn't just quick slap dash thrown together ideas, it was carefully planned right down to the angles of the characters and showcased in connected pictures in a way no movie could ever hope to achieve. The main reason is that the story is not just a single linear story, it's multiple stories, the background stories of the characters, the attitudes of the media, the commercial seedy undertow all at once and it works amazingly well. You couldn't achieve this in a movie, it's just not possible. Now I may actually return to all the media just to watch fragments of the characters in a motion picture form, but the real story or should I say stories is what will be spinning in my head. The movie/s and series will be simply icing on the already stunning cake so to speak. Alan actually declared he never wanted to watch a single media creation from the Watchmen and the reason is that he wrote the story specifically and in a special way to work with the comic form mixed with the novel form. If that's not enough a side story is mixed into the blend which forms a purpose for a character. In fact the way each character no matter how big or small plays an essential role to the overall work is what really wowed me with this stunning work.Look you simply have to read WATCHMEN to appreciate the gravity and awe of the incredible story which has one of the most satisfying endings to a story I've ever read and I'll be returning to this volume again and again as I think you can get something out of it with each read but best of all, this is true comic appreciation at it's finest. Now I understand why it's been declared one of the greatest graphic novels ever made. The reason is, BECAUSE IT IS!!!! READ IT!!!!
