Seagate Barracuda 1TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 2.5 Inch (6.35 cm) SATA 6 Gb/s, 5400 RPM, 128MB Cache for Computer Desktop PC (ST1000LM048)

Bought for using with my DLNA router for memory sake photos and movies. Housed it in a Transcend USB 3 casing. Transferred about 500GB in roughly 40min (write 12.5GB/m) which is nice for a SATA hdd. Got it in single anti-static plastic bag with label, not retail box. Was apprehensive about bad-blocks so left it on disk scan and it came out alright. Been using for two months now, no problems.

I've been using it since October 2021. I used it really rough. It was always above 75% full, full of games, movies, etc. Just this month, I replaced it with an SSD and started using it as an external drive, but now it crashed. All my data is lost, but I think it's the end of its life. I will try to recover the files. I just came here to check the warranty, but sadly, it's just 2 years.

PRODUCT REVIEW: - Checked out the drive. Not a refurbished drive. No scratch marks anywhere, seal and hologram intact. - Worked smoothly. - Plugged in, connected, powered up the tower, installed the OS through pen drive... worked perfectly. No hitches whatsoever. - As a product the Barracuda SATA 1 TB internal(PC) HDD worked perfectly. 5 STARS for that. NOTE: Actually a miracle that it worked considering the horrible packing that it came it. (see pictures) Packing and Delivery: - The delivery partner came in the first half of the day which I sincerely appreciate. - Now the fun starts, he came on a honda activa scooter with this HDD and several other products in a - Nylon Gunny Sack. God alone knows how many jerks and falls the sack must have gone through before it reached me. - Absolutely pathetic packing. (see pictures) - Just an amazon cover, with the plastic jacket and an anti static cover. The plastic jacket was punched.. either buffeted in the sack or fallen. No external bubble/paper mache buffer wrap. Or a protective cardboard box. Experience: My heart was in my mouth when I powered up the drive. The packing left me speechless, and this is replacement only product. I was praying when i set up the HDD and powered up the computer that I should not hear the continuous beep that signifies a damaged hard disc. But thanks to the powers of the universe the device functioned as expected. Request to Amazon and the seller: Please pack your products, particularly delicate electronic products like spindle based HDDs properly. How much would it cost you to swaddle in a few layers of bubble warp and a cardboard box? The feedback is a suggestion since the drive worked well. What would be my reaction if the drive had conked off? The torture of phone calls, replacement requests, and if the packing is as bad as it is now, there is no guarantee that the problem will not recur. Please avoid issues when you know things can go wrong. Better to be safe than sorry. Thank you

Bought this after the Toshiba 9.5 mm 1TB HDD on my 6 month old Acer failed with a mass of bad sectors.Was apprehensive about going for Seagate as I had mixed experiences with the brand, but the 7mm height was a big driver- it meant getting a 2.5 mm headroom for the drive in the Acer which did not have good ventilation for the HDD. The drive itself has pretty good specs, and the 128MB cache does make a big difference in real world use. Its no Samsung EVO SSD, but it comes fairly close to the cheaper SSDs in real world experience. This HDD works quite well in the course of opening multiple apps, which is the best real world test. Normal working is seamless, with Windows 10 and app installations happening quite fast, faster than normal HDDs. The drive is silent. In the poorly ventilated drive bay of the Acer, this HDD works at ~44 deg C, which is ~5 deg C lower than what the 9.5mm Toshiba experienced. I hope this means it will work longer, and the sectors will remain healthy longer. Quite frankly, I prefer this kind of innovation over SSDs. Raw speed is useful only occasionally, but the balance between real-time performance and high capacity with (hopefully) a long HDD life makes much more sense. Go for it.

Good product, Same as what was shown in the picture I could very easily install it On my laptop also was able to check the product details and warranty online. Packaging was very good which ensured no damage to the harddisk anybody afraid of the delivery as well as packaging I would suggest go ahead with this if you are thinking of, as I was in the exact same shoes but now happy that I bought it online VFM.

Easy to install hard disk, I used it to add more space in my hp pavilion laptop by replacing CD drive with a drive caddy. It works as expected. Speeds are within specs and gaming off them is awesome. I've formatted it in ext4 and backed up my entire steam library on to it. Awesome performance and value for money within deal time. Only complain was the packaging/presentation as it came pretty exposed with just anti static wrapper with only curled up brown paper as protection in Amazon box. The first delivery I got made loud noises as the heads must have been misaligned during shipping. Got immediate replacement though and replacement hdd was packaged same but worked perfectly.

Bought this drive for Rs-3455/- only, retail shops are selling it for 3500 to 4000 here. Since it is a 5400 RPM 2.5" drive don't expect world class performances, it works fine for storing data and playing games that don't require fast storage device, it's an HDD not an SSD afterall. You can easily play any multiplayer games without any issues but GOD of WAR 2018 and Resident Evil series loves fast storage devices like an SSD because these type of games loads the map on the go so on an HDD whenever the game loads the map you will face huge LAGGG. But its not a Seagate problem it happens on all HDD so keep this in your mind before buying and please pair this HDD with a 250-500 GB SSD and install the OS on the SSD for optimum performance.

Ich habe mir diese neue Variente einer 2,5" Platte für meine PS4 gekauft, um ein wenig mehr Speicher zu haben. Gleich nach der Neuinstallation des PS4 Systems fiel mir auf, wie schnell dies im Vergleich zu von Werk verbaute HDD klappte (welche übrigens nur 5400rpm spezifisch ist). Ging sehr schnell und testweise legte ich ein recht großes Spiel (Last Of Us Remastered) ins Laufwerk. Im Vergleich zur originalen HDD war der Installationsbalken innerhalb weniger Sekunden fertig, nicht erst nach 1-2 Minuten. Auch Ladezeiten sind vergleichsweise ein paar Sekunden schneller, nicht die Welt, aber für den einen oder anderen ungeduldigen Spieler sehr willkommen. Zudem habe ich diese Festplatte bei einem Fachhändler vor Ort erneut gekauft und in meinem Medion Razer Laptop verbaut, als Render-Cache und Medienplatte. Ich bin mehr als zufrieden, alle schreibt und ließt sehr schnell, die 128MB Cache machen sich deutlich bemerkbar. Verarbeitung ist auch solide, es klappert im Optimalfall nichts und für den preis ein klasse Angebot.
