Strong enough to hold 8 knives and a heavy cleaver!
I had an IKEA magnetic knife holder for years and loved the fact that all my food prep knives were so accessible. I just moved to my new house and had to quickly look for a new one since I had to leave mine behind. My biggest concern was whether this magnetic knife holder was going to be strong enough to hold all my knives. I decided to try this holder instead of driving 1.5 hours to the nearest Ikea. It was easy to install. After opening the package, I had to firmly pull the back plate piece away from the magnetic front piece. I tested the magnetic holder by sticking it on the side of my stainless steel fridge. The weight of 2 chef's knives made the magnet holder slide down slightly. Using the side of the fridge for my knife holder was definitely not going to work for me. So, I attached the back plate to the drywall beneath my cabinet with the 2 wall anchors and crews that were included. Then the front magnetic goes over that back plate to hide the hardware. As you can see, there is plenty of room for 8 knives and the large cleaver. I will have to add that the 3 longer knives (Santoku and chef's knives) slipped down slightly but stayed on the magnet. The magnet is so strong that the heavy meat cleaver doesn't even move. I am extremely pleased with this product.

Sturdy Hold
I read many of the customer reviews before committing to Ouddy Magnetic Knife Holder. The package arrived very securely and there were no issues with damage. After reading the advice, and seeing the photos, of other customers, I was very careful when unpacking the Ouddy Magnetic Knife Holder. And, as many customers sang the praises of the this product, I will too. The Stainless steel is clean and nice and works beautifully on the the stainless steel refrigerator and compliments the other stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. The strong hold securely attaches to the refrigerator and the knives are securely held on the Ouddy Magnetic Knife Holder. I initially attached two knives and, after seeing the secure hold, I attached the rest of my knives. Satisfied with the strength of this product, I added the sharpening steel and the scissors. They all are securely attached to the strip. Installment was a breeze!! Please, remember, this strip has a strong magnetic hold. Safety measures were evident, as the plastic strip between the magnate and the metal strip help eliminate bruising when separating the two. I also love the fact that the product is thin and, when attached to the refrigerator, it is not obtrusive. This is really important when children are in the house. This is a wonderful and elegant product.

Really nice and practical solution
Had this in use for a couple of months now and have been very pleased. I attached it to the metal side of our stainless steel fridge (yes, magnets work on that part) using just the magnetic front part (not the back and not the screws). The magnet is very strong, so keeping it in place is not a problem. There is room on the holder for 12 of my rather narrow bladed steak and paring knives and 3 of my larger knives, so everything I use on a regular basis is easily available. We have it over the countertop, high on the side of the fridge, so it is out of reach of our toddler even with a chair. My husband had some safety concerns about having exposed knives with our toddler but the problem I was having was that we were storing them in the same drawer as the silverware that she IS allowed to touch, so I wasn't able to child-proof the old situation either. (Yes, I hear you saying "so move them to a different drawer" but we don't have that many drawers to work with.) With this arrangement, the knives are up and out of the way and she is free to help set the table and get her own silverware from the drawer. The magnets seem very strong and I haven't seen any sign of the knives slipping. My husband was skeptical, but even he has to admit this is a good solution.

I put as many of these in my kitchen as I can fit
I own 3 of these and, coming to this page to buy a 4th, I decided to write a review. I cook a lot. I met my partner during the pandemic, and our dates frequently feature cooking dinner together in my kitchen. We are both opinionated about how a kitchen should flow, and we have tweaked my kitchen to craft a cooking workflow that cuts down on opening drawers and cabinets, so that we minimize being in each others' way. In that scenario, these magnets, combined with a maximum number of metal or metal-handled utensils, are your BEST FRIEND. First of all: you can stick or mount the magnet to pretty much anything: a wood surface, a metal surface like the side of a refrigerator, a wall stud, or directly onto drywall using drywall anchors. I have a tile kitchen backsplash and I had no issue mounting these into the drywall behind the tile using a masonry drill bit and drywall anchors. I mounted a second one by screwing directly into the wooden frame above my kitchen window. I do not recommend mounting these to a cabinet door or refrigerator door that can hit another surface because the contact can knock things off the magnet. The magnet is STRONG. There is some risk of getting a pinch mark on your skin if you get too close between this block and the metal backing when sticking the magnet for the first time. But the magnet will hold like nobody's business. I can't believe a magnet this strong is only $18. Knives, whisks, spatulas, and flippers are all fair game for sticking to the magnet, and all hold great. Cylindrical objects like whisk handles will roll along the surface of the magnet until they stabilize. Another use for this magnet is if you use physical paper to read recipes while cooking. You can stick anything metal to the magnet and use that to hold up the piece of paper while cooking. This might also work for a magnetic smartphone or tablet case.

Looks great! Lacks directions
I am giving this four stars because it looks great, holds our knives well, but unfortunately it lacked directions in the box. I wanted to attach mine to the fridge (an option listed in product description) and it took some playing around with the long magnet part to figure out how to make the back magnetized like the front. It was not TOO difficult to figure out, but directions would have definitely helped. I was also worried that I was going to slice myself with the metal material I removed that blocked the back magnet---this is why I feel direction would've helped and made it a little more safe. Not sure how it would go for people who need to mount their knife magnet to a wall.

Inexpensive, but Performs Great
Got this for a bit under $15. I would have preferred a wood wrapped Magnetic holder, because those should be significantly less likely to dull your blade if you happen to touch the edge to the magnetic holder. However, all of those I could find were all over 2x the price. So I got this one, which works great for the basic function of holding knives and utensils. I just make sure I attach them by the spine first, and remove them by the edge first to minimize the chance of the edge contacting the knife holder. Currently I have it holding an 8" Victorinox Chef's knife (179g/6.3oz) and a 4" Analon Santoku (199g/7oz) with the strip being magnetically mounted to my refrigerator. I also tested it out with an aditional 527g/18.6oz of cutlery and utensils in addition to the knives listed above (905g/31.9oz total). The only notable difference that I noticed from this test is that a very cheap, thin (only 0.24mm as measure by digital calipers vs a typical minimum for my other metal utensiles of 0.45mm) metal spatula from Ikea didn't attract to the magnetic strip strongly enough to support its weight. However, I have an even thinner Cutco serving spatula (0.24mm tapering down to 0.19mm) that attracts very strongly to the strip, so I think the alloy of the Ikea spatula is at fault. The takeaway there, I think, is don't expect this to hold very cheap thin metal utensils. I also have a metal whisk with a cylindrical handle like that shown in the product photos. Surprising to me, the magnetic strip held this almost as well as the flat metal pieces even with the drastically reduced surface area being in contact with the strip. Overall though, having the magnet strip loaded up didn't hurt performance in any discernible way. When I bought this, I was somewhat concerned that the magnet would be weaker than those of similar looking models in the more typical price range of $25+. These concerns proved unfounded. It handled everything I could through at it without showing any signs of struggle. There is no need to pay more for a similar looking product to achieve better performance. This model performs more than adequately for its intended use.

Very Powerful Strip!!
I've had this knife strip for over a year now and I can say I'm quite impressed with it. One of my requirements for the bar was that it had to have one big strong magnet (as oposed to a few smaller ones, those can only hold a specific number of knives and will fall if not correctly placed) it must be longer than 15", and priced under my budget of $20. This strip fit the bill on all accounts. It is however listed at 16" but actually measures 15.75" but I understand that is just standardization of sizing. It was easy to install there is a metal plate that is screwed into the wall (however if you have tile or don't want to put holes, mounting tape will work) and then the large magnet, which is glued to the inside of the outer strip, attaches itself to the mounted plate quite securely. Actually I would watch your fingers so they don't get pinched when first installing it because the magnet is so strong. When you get the knives close the strip pulls it the rest of the way as you see in my video. I have had zero issues with knives tilting or slipping and it sees nearly daily use. I'm actually considering buying another so I will have more space because I have more knives I wanna put up. If your in the market for a stainless knife bar under $20, I really reccomend this one.

Great knife holder
Sturdy. We do a lot of chopping. This rack holds all our knifes, even the heavy one. We liked having easy access to our knives so much that we bought a second one. You do have to be careful not to pinch your fingers when assembling it. If I push on it, I can make it slide, but it doesn’t slide when putting knives up or taking them off.

Culinary love
If you love your cooking then this is an essential for easy access to those knives you constantly use. Looks great in your kitchen and you'll be so impressed not having to rummage around in your drawers for the knife your after. Saves accidents from happening as well.

Works great, looks great
Good, strong magnet running the length of the bar. I didn’t rate adhesion as I chose to drill into the backsplash and mount with the included screws and anchors. Once I got through the tile, installation was very easy and it seems quite sturdy so far
