Intel i5 4460 Quad Core Processor (3.2GHz, 6MB Cache) (Previous model)

Been scratching my head as to what to use for Unity and Construct 2 game development, this CPU can handle unity 3D rendering with ease, I upgraded from an AMD 6 core CPU and that had nothing on this, I can't help but feel that with an Intel CPU things go much smoother everything including installing the OS is quick and flawless, obviously the Sempron and Celeron range are probably much the same as each other.I needed an affordable haswell i5 I looked into the i3 but the slowness in unpacking large files was something I wished to avoid so the i5 at this price range was the best deal to get, it unzips large 1 GB packages within no time at all.I think the i5's are the best you can get in a mid range build, I've attached a screen shot of my index score using just this CPU, I'm still waiting for my Nvidia quadro 5800 to turn up (ordered else where).Obviously for those needing hyper threading I'd be inclined to go for the i7 as I don't need it that much and I've been living on i5's and AMD chips for about 4 years I didn't feel the need to splash out too much on an i7 I don't think even gamers need to either, obviously most who can afford it will go for the best of the best and in my opinion that is the i7 chip, they do get a bit warmer with the built in graphics chips but a decent aftermarket cooler shall solve that, fitted an H100i to a friends early last year couldn't recommend them enough really good closed loop water coolers.The i5 should be fine with a decent heat sink and fan combo maybe tops a H80i closed loop water cooler.

For a good value of money for an Intel series graphics card, this card is a good one to get if your on a budget - maybe £600 to £700. If not overclocking, the CPU cooler that comes in with the i5 4460 is a good choice at first, but you can upgrade if you wish. With pre-placed thermal paste on the cooler, your all set to go when it arrives if you've got everything else. For performance, Most modern games (GTA V, Fallout 4 and Battlefield) all run very well on High settings, as long as you have a decent GPU paired with it. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, but I could also recommend that a product like the 6600K is currently on deal (July 1st 2016), and I would recommend that for current price to performance.

Great way to go if you're looking for an i5 that performs well but doesn't brake the bank, great for gaming and perfect desktop solution, 1150 boards are cheap, so can be bundled with other components for a cheap overall gaming or desktop pc. Would highly recommend, very pleased with this product :)box comes with a stock cooler with pre applied paste would recommend your own paste as the pre installed one wont be great quailty. The turbo boost feature is only specific to mother boards that support it and overclocking can be done but would recommend a better cooler then the stock one. This cpu has 4 cores and 4 threads, single core performance is much like the i3s but multicore performance is where the difference between i3 and i5 shows. This cpu will out perform most if not all amd variants such as fx6300 and 8350 i believe its called, however the higher core count of the amd cpus mean better rendering etc, but for gaming this i5 wins out.I am very happy with its performance would definitely recommend this cpu :)

Very good processor but a few things to remember.. if like me you didn't research things to the nth degree.1. I upgraded from a Intel 'G' series and had to buy a new motherboard to fit the processor - it uses a LGA1150 cpu slot rather than the LGA1155 for my older processor2. The new motherboard used AHCI for the SATA hard drives and I continually got the dreaded BSOD cycle until I reseached my HDDs should be using IDE.As I wrote this is nothing to do with the quality of the processor, which is excellent, but hopefully these points can guide you if you upgrade from an older Intel processor.

For the price it's good but if you can get a more modern i5 at least. I recommend an i7 if that is comfortable but this will do well. I find myself reaching the 100% utilisation quite often but that's not it's fault. In terms of pricing to performance it's one of the best and holds the top spot with the FX 8350. Put simply it's decent for gaming builds or less, if you're an enthusiast then not for you!

This is the first Intel processor i have bought in years (Was using an AMD 8350 since 2012) I play a lot of World of Warcraft And i can say it's single core performance is much better than any AMD FX CPU. This accompanied with a gtx 960 and 16gb hyper fury x and runs smooth. It stays nice and cool even under load. Much worth the buy for any budget gamer because with this socket there's some future proofing with the i7 on this particular socket.Would recommend buying this CPU over any AMD in this price range. Its worth the little extra

this was easy to install and i had no problems with setting everything up. works great with games but if your a game designer you migh want to look for a higher version like an I7 or an I9 as Substance painter relies heavily on this hardware and if your file size is huge it could take up to an hour or 30 minuets to bake the textures in 4K.

Fast Processor , It cant be overclocked but you don't need to . This is a Haswell Refresh CPU so you will need to make sure that your Board supports it , if not there might be a BIOS update from your motherboard manufacture there was for mine , Pair with DDR3 1600 Hyper X XMP memory and a Samsung SSD using uefi the whole thing flies. about 3 seconds for boot . very impressive. My other half is really happy with her upgrade.
