How do you decide when to use the liquid or wadding type Brasso? Can I use a toothbrush to clean/polish high-relief brasswork?

I use liquid Brasso every time. The wadding is good for keeping polished brass bright, but if you've got heavy tarnishing, liquid is the way to go. You'll need 2 toothbrushes to get into the all the nooks, one to apply and scrub, the other to brush away the residue. Be warned, it's quite splattery and the residue dust may make you sneeze!

I cleaned my cooker top with Cillit bang, it now has odd marks over it. Will this help get rid of them?

Cilit Bang is acidic, it will mark stainless steel. Brasso should remove the marks, yes, because it is a non acidic finely abrasive polish. I have never tried it though...

can you use this product on cutlery

Yes but only in small amounts at a time but please clean cutlery thoroughly before use.
