The modes and instructions are a bit confusing.....
The toothbrush is very high quality and does a great job at cleaning teeth. Where it falls down, in my eyes anyway, is in the instruction pamphlet. I believe it's intended to cater for international users, regardless of language, and for all different versions of IO toothbrushes. The main pamphlet has some very confusing diagrams, as well as some fairly obvious ones; such as to look at the side of the packaging to see what modes are available in the Series 3. Unfortunately, there is nothing at all on the side of the packaging, so I looked elsewhere. A card is included specifically for the IO Series 3 which in one diagram shows three modes (correct) and below shows under a heading "Customize", four modes. If there is the ability to customize it, I haven't found it. When started up, there is no indication of which mode the toothbrush is in, you have to gauge the sound. There is nothing in the instructions to say what happens to the mode when you switch off - does it revert to mode 1, or does it start up in the mode you were using when you switched it off? There were different answers in various sites online. So, I contacted Oral B and they confirmed that the last mode used is the mode selected when starting up again. Beware if you see that the toothbrush can be reset by pressing the power button for 10 seconds - it just goes off and cannot be switched on again unless you place it back in the charger! I was informed that reset should not be used and would never be required. Also that it is not a travel lock, the series 3 does not have one. Furthermore, you may see online that it can connect to the Oral B app - it can't as it hasn't got Bluetooth, but that is most certainly not a negative for me. Having said all that, the toothbrush works extremely well. I have delicate gums so used mode 2 (gentle) and it cleaned my teeth really well, the feeling that I get after a visit to the hygienist. It is far more thorough than a manual brush, and was very kind to my gums. To be fair, I soon got to recognise which mode was which, but it would help enormously if there was some form of indication on the brush as to which mode was in use. This was explained to me that not every toothbrush in their range can have the same facilities, otherwise there would be no price range - and I get that. It needn't be fancy, just a graphic would do. But, once used to the brush, such things wouldn't be an issue. All-in-all, this is a great toothbrush and I got it at a great price from Amazon (way below the RRP), so I will forgive Oral B for the poor instructions enclosed and just enjoy having very clean teeth. Highly recommended.

Great improvement over Oral-B Pro
Bought these to replace our Oral-B Pro 3's, and at first was disappointed to see that the iO uses a different brush head. However because they flare out at the base and don't have the plastic ridge and coloured band of regular Oral-B heads, the iO heads are much cleaner and more hygienic - there's nowhere for toothpaste to hide and they rinse off effortlessly. The iO is also much quieter than the Pro, and while it takes a little getting used ot the different style of vibration, it definitely feels nicer and like it's doing a more effective job cleaning. I got the pair of iO3 toothbrushes for £80 in a Prime sale - at this price these toothbrushes are great value. Battery life is lasting well so far, but Oral-B toothbrushes always have good battery life to start with, it's a few months down the line when you see if they'll last the long haul.

100% recommend this product
I ordered this toothbrush for my partner for Christmas last year and it’s almost a year on and it’s just as new. It’s the best toothbrush and the charge lasts longer than I had thought. You can change the vibration / speed to what you like, it’s great value for money and makes your teeth feel super clean after use

Excellent Toothbrush with Smart Features
The Oral-B Smart 6 toothbrush is fantastic. The brushing modes are easy to select, and the pressure sensor helps prevent over-brushing. My teeth feel cleaner than ever, and the Bluetooth app is a helpful bonus for tracking brushing habits. Battery life is impressive, and the build quality feels premium. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade from a regular electric toothbrush.

A Brilliant Electric Toothbrush!
What a significant improvement on my previous Oral-B toothbrush! I have been using the electric toothbrush for many years, changing the brush heads regularly, and I have been delighted with the result. However, I decided it was time to upgrade to the more recent iO series electric toothbrush range. After a thorough review of the various models, I decided I only needed features similar to my current toothbrush and chose the iO3 model. The brush motor is very quiet, and the change in the brushing action took a while to get used to, but now I am delighted and only wish I had listened to friends who had implored me to make the change. I am very pleased I did make the change and can only suggest anyone using the 'old' Oral-B consider changing to one of the the newer iO models.

Good toothbrush at a reasonable price
The IO3 doesn’t have all the options of the more expensive models in the IO range, but it still brushes your teeth using the vibrating brush action. So, unless you want the functions offered by the more expensive versions, I recommend this make / model. Only caveat is that I don’t notice when the battery is getting low and needs charging… I only notice when the power light is red when and the toothbrush is completely discharged and immediately turns off, usually mid brush. Not sure if it’s a fault or me not paying attention!
