Silver back, not black board, the frame is black, writing surface is silver, says black in description. If I'd know, would have gotten black chalk marker instead of white.

The item arrived a little sooner than expected and so far I'm happy with it. Order this blackboard for some photography projects and so far so good. Just wish it came with some chalk so hat we could had tried it upon receiving the item. I bought this to put daily reminders on for a loved one who suffers from memory issues. It is mounted near the door so they can refer to it for schedules and routines that should be completed daily. The info is there, and it's presented attractively. I bought chalk that can only be erased with water so the info won't be inadvertently smeared off. The size and frame are perfect and attractive for my use.
