The Boyfriend : Mcfadden, Freida: desertcart.in: Books Review: Master Writing Skills - fast-paced, quirky and absolutely jaw-dropping plotline carved out intelligently by Madam Author. fantastic reading. this needs a movie. one of the best books to read to get out of a reading slumber. Review: Twisty and addictive thriller - "The Boyfriend" by Freida McFadden is an addictive and twisty psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the last page. The story has dual POV (Sydney and Tom) and dual timelines (present and past) which intersect perfectly in the course of the novel. The best thing about any psychological thriller is how unpredictable it can be and on this ground, 'The Boyfriend' scores a perfect ten on ten. The novel needs to be read for the big jaw dropping twist at the end. Freida's writing is razor-sharp, with a deep understanding of the human psyche. The characters are complex and multi-dimensional. I loved how the author has tried to show criminal psychology in the course of the novel. The plot is perfectly woven, with enough twists and turns until the very end. We are going with 4 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complex characters and twisty plots, "The Boyfriend" is a must-read.

Fast-paced read
It's one of those thrillers that gets its hook into you, and you cannot stop reading. I like how the story plays out, and never lags. It's one of those serial killer stories that will stay with you long after you're done reading. Cons I think the book could have done with better editing/writing. At many points, my interest in the book waned cos the writing was just tired, or half-baked, like the author wanted to finish writing a page and didn't really care. As someone who loves good writing, this really disappointed me and took away from my enjoyment of the book. For me, the test of a great thriller is whether I can crack it before the big reveal. I did guess the killer fairly ahead of the reveal but the book still surprised me. My take: if you're looking for a pacy thriller and aren't too bothered about lazy writing, this is a pick.

Darkly Delicious Psychological Thriller.
What a Roller coaster ride. I kept on turning page after page wondering where it was leading to and when the ending came it was as unpredictable as ever. When it comes to analyzing the complexities of the human brain, Freida is adept at it. Four stars for me.

A Gripping One
I couldn't put it down. Read it while commuting, read it while eating, before bed, just after waking up. I swapped my screen time with kindle and I am glad I did it. The twist at the end was quite unexpected. I actually liked the storyline and specially with no adult content. I think I want to read more books by the author.
