As well as containing the full 12 volumes of the original Death Note manga, it has the special 'Volume 13: How to Read' with character profiles, mini comics, a card with L's real name on, interviews with the writers, the manga's pilot chapter and more, AND a 'How to Read' booklet with the full instructions of the Death Note! All of this is in an easy to carry, foldable box covered with artwork showing Light and the Shinigami. The story itself is a gripping psychological thriller that is quite a reading-heavy manga with multiple plot twists so that you never know where it's going. The plans developed by Light and L are so cleverly written that they'll blow your mind. With several story arcs introducing new characters almost every volume, you'll be captivated right until the incredible ending, and after that there's the extra volume 13 to use as the definitive encyclopedia for all things Death Note. A must-have for any Death Note fans, or a complete compilation for new readers that is considerably cheaper than buying the individual volumes separately. Review: Asian cinema at its finest. - Don't think that there is anything I can add that hasn't been said already about these two films. Both are excellent examples of asian cinema at its best. The only minor niggle with the set is the product picture gives the impression that box was 'book like' where as in reality it is just a simple double dvd box and there are no extra art books like you can get in the single movie set. But a great purchase none the less. Expect if I had the extra cash spare I would of gone for the single movie set. Death Note 2 - The Last Name (2 Disc Limited Edition) [2006] [DVD ]

A worthwhiled watch,
A very worthwhile watch, an interesting story with excellent portrayal of Ryuk, a Death God. Some twists and turns to the story line which are not always obvious. I've not seen the Animated or Comic versions so can not make any comparison. Note that this film is NOT dubbed, but but does have English subtitles. I prefer subtitles to dubbing as you get any sound effects or emphasis of the voices in the original unaltered state but others may prefer dubbed so they are not distracted from any action by having to read what has been said

Awesome
I'd previously seen a few of the anime episodes at a mates, but he only had half of them. So when I saw there were films out I thought great. A lot cheaper then buying the anime DVD series. The films are very true to the anime and miss hardly anything out. The characters are played superbly, an the cgi on ryuk and rem is good too. The twists and turns keep you gripped. All in all a must have to add to the collection.

Truely original & stylish.
Very impressive movies with well thought out storylines and intelligent script. The characters are believable and genuinely entertaining. This is the kind of film that makes you wonder what other gems there are out there (besides Battle royale 1&2 and early John woo films) that stand alone in redifining Eastern movie exellance. These are films for people who enjoy being entertained covering all aspects from love, friendship , honor , comedy and detective movies. Not family films but ideal for movie lovers who enjoy highly original and clever films. 10/10

Great
I loved these movies. Even though alot was missing from the original anime, it's to be expected as you couldn't fit it all into two movies. The cast are perfect and play the roles to the best they could be. Plus, the shinigami are amazing! I jumped when Ryuk showed up! I really enjoyed it and think any fan of Death Note will feel the same.

packaging problems.
personally, i love these DVDs, the deathnote series are very well thought out, and the movies well true to the mangas. HOWEVER if you are considering purchasing from this seller i STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT. i was totally disguisted with the quality of packaging for this order, when the DVDs in question arrived at my house the boxes were mangled beyond recognition, one dvd has most of the front cover missing, and the other a smashed corner. this is utterly disgraceful, i have PREMIUM delivery priviledges and i DO NOT expect things that i have paid good money for to turn up in such a state. i will NOT be buying from this seller again, and i really recommend for you to buy from another seller, or better another site.

Lack of information
I absolutely love the Death Note series, and would commend the series to anyone. HOWEVER. I am limited to watching disc 2, (the feature disc for) Death Note: The Last Name on my computer as for some STRANGE reason it will only play on my DVD player if every 10 seconds it jitters. This spoiled my experience, as after requesting a new copy, IT DID IT AS WELL!!!! The other discs work fine though.

Ces trois films tirés d'un manga célèbre sont envoûtants du début jusqu'à la fin. Je le conseille vivement

I have been a huge fan of the Death Note series ever since the first manga hit the U.S so of course I had to own both of these movies. I especially am fond of this set because these movies come off more as two parts of a single film then two standalones so you able to see the complete story at once. I also recommend this set in blu ray over any dvd set because the picture and audio quality differences are noticable as well. If you are looking for a ton of special features, this set isn't ideal but it is one of the few sets to have both movies together and is alot cheaper then buying each movie seperately (at the time I bought it at least) so it has that going for it.
