More cost effective than LED fixture, just add an LED bulb
My pool company wanted to replace my light fixture with an LED one, but then I would have two mismatched lights...and they wanted to charge me 1250/light. So I bought this one, got matching LED bulbs and they turned out great. The light that comes with this looks like its from the 80s so that wasnt going to work. In the end, turned out great for a fraction of what I was originally quoted.

Fits niche, easy install, bulb in tact
I had difficulty determining my niche and selected the 78421100 (15' cord for spa) and 78428100 (50' cord for pool) based on the size 10.1 x 10.1 x 7.8. The result was a successful fit.No broken bulbs.Easy install: I cut the cord of the old light near the fixture and taped the end of the new light cord to where I cut the old one. I then pulled the cord through the underground conduit and wired it up.

Pentair earns 5-Stars! Here's Why!
Our Infinity Pool just completed a Major Re-design for a 360 installation of Ocean Life Tile Murals. In the process , we noticed that the pool light had developed a leak, and needed to be replaced. The Good - Well-packaged, quick delivery, and a Perfect Fit as a Replacement. It comes "SEALED" from the factory, READY to Install, so be sure NOT to un-screw it, just to "check it out", as IF you do, you will have to order & INSTALL a Brand, New Seal, every time you Open it, like to Replace the 300 or 500 Watt light bulb, according to Pentair You have been WARNED!There was nothing to add, just take a minute to read the directions to get oriented.Caveat #1 - As always when working with all Electrical Outlets, Lines or Devices, TURN-Off at the Main House Fuse Box, first!Caveat #2 - It is recommended that you do NOT "dry" test the light, after installing it, as it is designed to operate ONLY as a self-contained Unit, under water. Testing it in open air may cause an electrical Shock, or over heat the light causing a failure.Caveat #3 - Unless, you have direct experience of installing a whole new Pool light system and hook-up yourself, it is highly recommended that you hire either an electrician (costs more), or a Pool & Spa Service/Repair man (can $ave you money)!Caveat #4 - Remember, that when installing this unit to leave about a extra 6 foot length that you may coil around the light, wheninstalling it, so that later when you have to just replace just the light bulb + NEW SEAL RING, you have enough LINE to bring it up and out of the pool to work on it, otherwise, you may have to empty your Pool. Not convinced? ... well, I have video's of my illustrious, and funny Neighbors! The Bad - Nothing to report so far!Bottom line - Pentair is a manufacturer that carry's a surplus of Quality, Pool Light Replacement's for most, major Brand's with various options and configurations. I would not hesitate to purchase a Pentair Pool Light again.Aloha!

Broken Bulb
When I opened the package the light bulb was broken and I had a tough time getting the base of the bulb out of the socket.

A rock solid workhorse, industry standard for incandescent.
This is the standard workhorse light. I had an old one in the pool when I bought the house, the bulb burned out so I took it apart to replace it. It kept leaking water into the housing even though I used a new gasket. Finally determined that the epoxy that seals the cord entrance and the rear of the light fixture had cracked and was letting water in. Light was at least 10 years old, maybe more. The install of this one was easy in theory, though fishing the cord up to the switch at the pool pump proved very very difficult because it was very old and corroded and involved a jackhammer, concrete removal and an electrician to replace that rotted conduit buried in the pool deck. Luckily I'm building a concrete block wall and had the concrete truck here that day anyway, so I just had the guy fill the trench in for free with the extra concrete he had on the truck. Had it not been for that, it would have taken 30 minutes tops to install it.300 watt unit is fine for my 18,000 gallon pool though I'm researching dimmer options for it for those late night skinny dipping parties when I don't want to give my neighbors a show. The other option of course is LED, but there is a large price penalty. You have to do the math to see how long the payback is for the savings in electricity. For me it was many years because I don't use it that much so the incandescent unit (costs about $.05 her hour in electricity to run) was the better option.
