"One Of James Brown's Best Albums......"
One of Brown's most popular album releases, SEX MACHINE was originally released as KING KS7-1115 on 2LPs. The double album contained live and studio tracks within it's gate-fold sleeve. The album cover states "Recorded Live At Home In Augusta, Georgia With His Bad Self," but actually six of the album's fifteen tracks were recorded at three different studio sessions. The applause on those tracks was later dubbed during the mastering. Brown had a #1R&B and #15 Pop hit with "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine" but that version (KING 45-6318) is NOT the album version but one cut at Starday Studios In Nashville, TN on June 30, 1970. The actual live track "Spinning Wheel" was released as a two part single, KING 45-6366. An essential purchase, here's the recording and musician rundown......1.
