Great book to not only learn Modern JavaScript not just the plain vanilla JavaScript.
This book is great for someone who wants to not only learn JavaScript but also ECMAScript and the new features which have been added to make the language so much more powerful. My only major complaint is the lack of an index for the book in the back in case you want to reference a keyword or something else later on down the road. I haven't finished it yet but I recommend it. It's a lot of fun.

This is the one of the few books I like to read to learn JavaScript. Very straight forward to understand. Overall, glad I purchase.

Too many typos to be worthwhile
Purchased this 2nd Edition book for an Intro to JavaScript class I was taking. In general the book covers the language, but the number of typos renders it much to difficult for someone trying to learn the language for the first time. Trying to work through the examples in the book and not be able to match your answer to the one shown in the book due to a typo on the answer is so frustrating. It needs a really good reviewer to go through it an correct it for the 3rd edition.

4 mod 3 is not 2
It's easy to read, has good subject coverage, but has a number of small errors.

Very good book on modern JavaScript
Very good book on modern JavaScript. Well explained. Already loved the author from his book “Jump Start Sinatra”.Up to date as ca be and concise. Also a good Reference. The printing is also well done. Alone the binding could use some improvement. Still - I Love it!

Very well written and thought out.
Excellent book that is good for people for all levels. I am just starting out and using it to help me as I do a course at General Assembly and it is brilliant.

Not edited.
TL DR: This books hasn't been proofread or edited.DETAILS:This book is good because it tackles problems simply and the explanation are clear and concise. This book is utterly useless because it's littered with dozens of mistakes from typos to actual errors in the code. You have to check whether the code actually works, which defeats the whole purpose. There are funny mistakes:"And now change the background to green" - > *changes the background to BLUE *.There are code mistakes in the naming. There are several typos and formatting mistakes. There are bits of HTML where there shouldn't be.In the second chapter a paragraph is copy pasted two times proving that this book hasn't undergone any review of sort.Is self referential, most of the books reference the MDN which is where home for a developer is, this book must of the times reference it's own portal on sitepoint.I wrote to the publisher, had I had a reply of sort maybe this review would have been mitigated with professionalism, but I guess they don't care, go figure me.
