SightmarkBoresight with Red Laser

Good, bright boresight. I tested its' "center" by taping a barrel to a chair leg and inserted the boresight. Pointed it at wall about 20" away and put a target dot where the laser hit. I put a piece of tape on the back of the boresight and turned it a 1/4 turn. Checked where the laser hit and turned it another 1/4 turn. And again and again until it was rotated 360. The laser didn't drift for any of those. Next test was to insert it into a gun that is sighted in. Note: you need to remove the ejector or it will push the boresight and throw off the laser projection. With the ejector removed and the boresight pushed into the chamber, the boresight and gun sights lined up well. Not sure if these things are hit or miss, but the one I got is spot on and will serve me well.

I purchased the 45 ACP and 9MM boresights several years ago, which worked perfectly until this year when I started experiencing several issues. I reached out to customer support, hoping they could offer some advice. Instead, they informed me that their products are covered for a lifetime and recommended that I submit a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) to have the two units inspected. I sent the units in, and they returned them in like-new condition. The customer support was unbelievably great. If there were a sixth star, Sightmark would have earned it!

did a roll test on the table with laser pointed at the wall. at a 2 foot distance from the wall does a 1 inch diameter circle. Not perfect but for the price im fine with that. would recommend marking the back side of the laser to have it in the same orientation when adjusting something like a bottom rail laser so you will know how far up/down or left/right the bore sight laser is off when making adjustments to rail laser.

This is perfect for about 10 meters. Beyond that the brightness is not great and the the image spread it quite large. The laser is calibrated to be in the center and when you look at the aperture it is not centered. That is due to the calibration - dont try to change it.

Recieved in package, new. First attempt in barrel, slide did not smoothly,completely close. M&P Shield .45 2.0. Got slide to snap shut. Appeared off to right. My gut was new sights were off to left. Granted this is a gut feeling new sights are off to left based on shooting, but it felt off. Then laser flickered after 1 min. Removed laser, reloaded, worked another minute then went out again. Read reviews stating product fault makes the product point to the right. This seems to be the case, in addition to the laser failing on day one. Amazon will be sending a replacement. Will update *** Update Second unit recieved. Worked, with no loss of laser like first. The red dot is consistent with the first product I recieved. The laser height, just as the first laser dead on. The significant off to the right the same as well. Roughly 35ft distance off approximately 1 ft. That's ridiculous. Several others have noted the extractor interferes with the round, knocking the laser off target and off to the right. This looks to be true. This makes the product useless. S&W shield .45 2.0 ** Second update Called sightmark tech. Talked in circles for 10 minutes. " If you want to send the laser in, to see if it's off center we can do that ". I responded," the chances of 2 units, being off the same exact amount is very, very little. Are you familiar with the extractor contacting your product and changing its accuracy?" Response" don't close the slide the whole way " I replied, unless the slide is closed completely, the barrel doesn't lay flat. That makes no sense." Obviously they are aware of the issue.

I own a Ruger P345 with a laser sight on the rail. I bought this bore sight laser to align the green laser on the rail with the bore sight. This bore sight was right on target, exactly where I hit the target. I used it to align the rail laser to the bore. Fired one round at 30 feet and the weapon is right on. Fired several more rounds and found no drift, no errors in alignment, and extremely accurate out to 60 feet. Goodness help the cretin that deserves to be in my sights! Great product! Highly recommended.

Get you on paper significantly faster for distance setup. One thing to note about the bore sight, it does not have the rear lip for the extractor to latch onto. To use, clear the weapon and install an unloaded magazine. Next, install the batteries and lock on the cap of the bore sighter. Carefully position the bore sighter in the open chamber and slowly release the slide locking the sighter in the chamber. I have found that with a 1/16 twist with 230 gr ball ammo, I need to set the sights just high right at 25 feet. This will put you dead on at 25 yards. Odd I know but it's worked on two of my custom 1911's and saved me hundreds of rounds. With it's help, I've managed to get both of my 1911's to do 5" groups @100yards with Novak sights and Wilson match grade barrels shooting off hand. Said it before, it will get you on paper and save you time and money.

For whatever reason, the bore sight I got was way off center. I sighted in my 1911 with the bore sight so it was perfectly aligned, then the next day at the range all my shots were way left of my POA. I put the bore sight back in only to find it was still aligned perfectly. I'm not sure if this was just a product of the 1911's tilt-action causing the two to be different, but it's something to be aware of if you're planning on using this in a 1911. I'd always trust range data over a bore sight any day. And no, I was not 'jerking my shots' or flinching. I've made doubly sure of that at the range.
