My a7cii is a perfect upgrade to my a7iii in so many ways, but the form factor meant that it was a little too small for my giant hands (fixed with a Smallrig grip) and the viewfinder is a step down in its physical size. I thought the small viewfinder might end up as a dealbreaker, and I was planning to exchange the camera for an a7iv, but then I saw this. It doesn’t make the viewfinder any bigger, of course, but it does make using it so much simpler - it ensures my eye is always in the right place, rather than leaving me squinting for a better view. It fits onto the camera perfectly and holds fast, even when you’re throwing your camera into a bag.

Can’t stay on in all circumstances but it comes off and goes on easily and hasn’t broken from repeated use so far.

Inside is the eyecup, along with a lanyard.The eyecup itself feels well made and has a good finish. Fitting it is easy, as it simply clips onto the top of your camera. There are cut-outs that line up with the microphone holes in your camera so that it doesn’t effect sound recording. And the overall design does not interfere with the operation of the camera’s LCD screen. You can attach the included lanyard to the eyecup and your camera, so that you don’t lose it should you need to remove the eyecup at any point.In use the eyecup gives enough eye relief to comfortably use the camera without interfering with your field of view through the viewfinder. First SmallRig product I’ve been disappointed with. On its own it’s fine, well made and comfortable. However an oversight by SmallRig with their design and compatibility with their own camera cage for the A7Cii.It does not fit, you have to remover the cage to fit it and then the cage won’t fit over it.Sent back and will get KIWI Photo that slots into the hotshoe to secure to camera body. It can be added and removed with the camera cage.
