Smart Lock Series 2 (Black) for The Gen 3 Home Security System

I’ve used SimpliSafe’s alarm system before and have always been impressed with how easy everything is to set up—this smart door lock is no different. Install was super straightforward. Took about 15 minutes from start to finish. The instructions are clear, it connected to the base station without any issues, and calibration was quick. The included keypad works just as well—synced up right away and was ready to go with no hassle. Also, just a heads-up: this lock installs on the inside of your door, not the outside. I’ve seen a few people put it on wrong in videos, so worth pointing out. Overall, really solid product. Easy, clean, and works like it should.

**FYI - You do NOT have to pay for monthly monitoring for this to work in the app!** I live in a "smart" apartment that I created and set up myself. The only thing that is missing is to have a smart lock for my front door. I've tried a few other brands, but the apps were gimicky and the locks just weren't well made. I had finally given up after returning the second "other brand" lock... Until I found that Simplisafe just released a second version of their smart lock. I immediately bought it. I set it up immediately when it arrived. The packaging was as surprisingly impressive as the device itself - hats off to you Simplisafe. Within minutes I had the old lock off, the new lock on and even had it paired to my smart alarm. The one thing that I will absolutely APPLAUD Simplisafe for doing is including an outdoor keypad at this price. This is why I say it's a game changer. When I come home, all I have to do is put in any of the alarm codes into the keypad on the outside of my door and not only does it unlock the door but it ALSO disarms my keypad at the same time. This is perfect for letting anyone have a "key" to your home when they need it. It gives me a huge peace of mind knowing if something happens to me someone can get into my apartment with no issues to rescue/care for my furbaby. When it's time to leave, all I have to do is set my alarm to "away" and walk out. As soon as the countdown is finished it will automatically lock my door and send a notification to my phone that the door was successfully locked. No more fumbling with keys or wondering if you forgot to lock it. You can even dig deeper into the settings and choose how the lock behaves during arming/disarming. I have mine set to lock automatically when I put the system into "Stay" and anytime the alarm is turned off, whether it's set to Stay or Away the door automatically unlocks - perfect for anytime I need to take the dog out. I just disarm and open the door, no need to fumble with the lock anymore. All in all, this is an outstanding product by Simplisafe and I am so glad I decided to purchase this. If you own a Simplisafe system and this lock is compatible with your setup, please do yourself a favor and purchase this. You won't regret it!

DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK. We've never had so many issues with a product before. Worked for about two months before randomly not unlocking all the way about 10% of the time. This requires manual unlocking with a key. Within the last month its changed to about 90% of the time. Leading at one point to us getting locked out of the house on a freezing morning. I've spent hours on the phone with SimpliSafe's support and they're the definition of unhelpful. A horrifically slow chat support that just copies the already available FAQ articles and a phone call that accomplished nothing. Both the iPhone and Android apps give errors or fail at basic detection when trying to re-calibrate the locks. Simplisafe shrugged and said it wasn't their problem. Amazon has also said its no their problem after 30 days. So basically I'm left with a $120 paperweight that probably will even do a terrible job at that. Just to repeat. DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK. It feels cheap, the keypad wobbles and feels like a kids toy. The lock can't consistently do its job properly. Customer support doesn't help in anyway. Stay far away.

I have the original one (rounded style) and have been wanting to get another for another door since the original was discontinued. This new one has all the same features and installs just like the old one which in my opinion is very easy to install. I specifically like how it uses the door’s existing deadbolt which is great for apartments where you have to keep the same key. Personally, I liked the rounded style of the original better than this new square style but it’s just as functional. Of course the best feature is you only have to enter your alarm pin once to both unlock the door and disarm your Simplisafe system. Glad this product is back on the market.

Excellent product that works with your existing deadbolt. Would be super convenient for an apartment. Only thing I wish is that it would support more than a 4 digit entry code. It’s really well integrated if you already use SimpliSafe.
