Small Garden Planner

Best buy in this category!
Best book on small garden design I have seen in recent months. Although there are a vast number of garden design books, most of them seem aimed at larger gardens. We live on a '70s estate with the usual small garden these estates have but that doesn't mean we don't want it to look bigger! This book is ideal and gives clear & concise information. And with the price I paid (1p plus postage - used) I feel really chuffed! The book arrived very quickly and I'm looking forward to using it as we refurbish our garden.

Old book but many suggestions still relevant. Many example plans.
Great bargain from Awesome Books.Published some years ago but many tricks still relevant: mirrors, frames, levels, raised beds, terracing, trompe l'ouille and the like.Raised beds from timber (sleepers) don't get a look in, though. But it does suggest a fake culvert (water outlet) which I am planning but haven't seen in any other books.Overall, an interesting read with lots of layout suggestions.Although garden plans mostly suggest shrubs around the edges whereas I reckon taking it right to the wall/fence with a replaced climber at the end would realise the full available width length in a small garden. Some construction methods are outlined.. paths, walls, paving, fences but I would want further guidance for such projects. But then I'm useless at building things.

Invaluable
Excellent book; the case studies are brilliant, I actually was able to slightly adapt one to use; it made a very easy start to what seemed like an impossible task. Also the tips and general guidance are written in a way that anyone can understand.

A bit dated
Great prompt delivery. Book quite dated and concentrates on traditional "cottage" style gardens. It is a 20yr old publication so perhaps I should have known.Good if it is what you're after.

A good starting point
This is an excellent little book although sadly out of print. If you are planning a garden with all the most up-to-date features it is a bit out of date, but in terms of planning a small garden from scratch it is a good starting point with all the basics. Well written and nicely illustrated.

Good book
Good little book to help you to design your small garden. Lots of useful tips like a list of plants to get to create the illusion of space, diagrams and photos.

A well written and easy to follow guide.
A book full of creative, imaginative and practical ideas well suited to those who, like me, are dipping their toes into garden design for the first time.
