how deep are the pop out trays?

The top drawer is slightly less than 3/4 inch, the bottom drawer is slightly less than 7/8 inch.

How much weight can these carry?

These are only plastic, and I would not use for very heavy objects. I got these for my granddaughters to use for craft items, doll clothes, trinkets, small toys,etc, nothing of which is very heavy.
