Original score to the 2014 motion picture composed by Ramin Djawadi. Ramin is best known for his Grammy-nominated, guitar driven scores for Iron Man and Pacific Rim and for the TV series Prison Break, Game of Thrones and Person of Interest. With compositions that vary widely stylistically between his classical orchestral pieces to electronic and modern genres, Ramin blends the elements with careful consideration to the emotionality and narrative of each scene.

The tale of Dracula is finally told!
Ramin Djawadi has truly proved himself as a great score composer with his excellent "Game of Thrones" music. He has also scored films such as "Red Dawn", "Pacific Rim", and "Iron Man". He returns to the big screen with "Dracula Untold" and out of all his film scores...this one is my favorite by him. The most popular film music for a Dracula film was composed for "Bram Stoker's Dracula" written by Wojciech Kilar. It has been imitated many times by various composers and has even been reworked into movies and TV shows like "American Horror Story". Ramin Djawadi breaks away from the traditional sound of Dracula and gives us a soundtrack worthy for a superhero. I guess that is what this film is trying to do as well. I haven't seen it yet but the previews seem to point in the direction that Dracula is, in a sense, a hero who sacrificed himself to save the ones he loved. What a great premise! Well, the music fits this idea well because it truly sounds heroic and epic. The first track, "Prologue", has these haunting whispers that sound like something from an ancient language. I love his use of this weird electric sound that resembles the flutter of bat wings. You'll find extra treats like this throughout Ramin's score. He stocks it full of these wonderful surprises. Hand strummed string instruments, electronic sounds, ethnic sounds from the Middle East, and even Australian tribal sounds. The score is full of choral vocal arrangements that both sound heavenly haunting and at times demonic.Want to try your new sound system out? Try playing tracks 9 and 10. "Hand O' Bats" part one and two are some hard hitting action pieces that are just awesome to listen to. Give tracks 13 and 17 a try as well. "The Brood" and "Vlad vs 1000" are crazy! Very epic and heroic music where I can just envision Dracula kicking butt. Action music in films can be very tricky to do because it can get very noisy and not very interesting but Ramin's experience with "Game of Thrones" has payed off here. I really like his technique in putting these sequences together. The way he handles the transitions between one bit of action to the next is amazing. He has essentially created movements that really work together nicely as one piece.Ramin certainly isn't scared to throw the whole orchestra into the work and find room to add plenty of other unique instrumentation along the way. It is a fun soundtrack to listen to. It turns a horror story into epic heroism...but...listen carefully, that heroism is lined with a dark edge! Pick this one up for a new musical tale about the timeless Dracula! The physical CD comes with 20 tracks and runs about 1 hour 1 minute. The CD book contains some great photos from the film and has orchestra/choir credits.

Another very cool soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi
Another very cool soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi. Very dark and sinister...this is music with visceral impact. I enjoy the gothic choir sound, so maybe I was partial to it because of that. His previous work has always amazed me. Sometimes his main themes don't get me as much as the themes he writes for specific scenes or characters. For example, I didn't enjoy the main title from Game of Thrones as much as The King's Arrival. This album is similar...I didn't enjoy the title track as much as the other tracks. Translation...I did enjoy the album as a whole, though not as much as Pacific Rim, where he breaks the aforesaid pattern and just makes everything awesome. All in all, this is a soundtrack worth getting and I highly recommend it.

The Musical Awakening of Djawadi in "Dracula Untold"
Like me, it may have taken a number of people to get around to seeing the film "Dracula Untold" and realizing it is something of a pleasant surprise with an interesting spin on Dracula by Luke Evans...a bit of a stretch as a tale about Vlad III, the impaler, but worth watching. The score also proved to be a surprise...a good one. Ramin Djawadi was finally getting noticed with his fabulous music for "Game of Thrones" when he did this music, and presents a very good score for "Dracula Untold." His interesting use of instruments and chorus give depth to his music, while his themes for Mina are sensitive and romantic. The score works very well on screen and in this soundtrack album.

this is AMAZING, the sound track went above and beyond my expectations. It is dark, and you never know what is coming next, I didn't know that Ramin Djawadi was out there, and he is now one of my favorite composers. I highly recommend this!

The beautiful composing of this music is truly magical, from a musician's perspective!!! But I was hoping it would have Lorde's song that plays during the movie's end credits.
