I tried a USB-based KVM switch many years ago and it was unreliable. I've been using a PS2 KVM switch ever since but motherboards with PS2 keyboard/mouse connections are now hard to find. This USB KVM switch works well. One minor gripe is that the monitor horizontal offset setting changes depending on the order in which the PCs are booted. This is however easy to fix by using the monitors 'auto' function.

Really easy to use, simple set up and looks smart

If you need to share a keyboard, mouse and VGA monitor between two PC's, this kit makes it very simple to do that, includes the extra VGA leads you need and a dongle extension switch for the desktop which makes switching between computers a simple one click operation.The only downside (and others have mentioned this) is that there is some degree of visible digital patterning on the screen when using the switchbox, which does degrade the picture slightly.

I have two computers that I wanted to connect to one VGA monitor. One has a mini displayport output and the other has USB(c) so after converting both to VGA I only expected this to work for the video feed, which was all I really needed, but it also switches the USB keyboard and mouse despite all the conversions! The switching is also immediate while an old manual switch box that I tried for the video left the screens blank for a few seconds while the computers worked out what had happened. You do need to plug in the USB plugs the supplied VGA leads to the computers for the switching to work even if not using USB peripherals, but they do also power LEDs on the unit to indicate which computer is connected. It would be better if there was also indication on the remote button but that could be intrusive.

I can’t get it to work, I connected the cables and switched my monitor and laptop on but the connector disintegrated work. The lights are not coming on on the switch at all.Can someone get back to me please?

Needed to link 2 pc to one monitor for space, all worked well, 1 keyboard 1 mouse and 1 set of speakers.

Worked exactly as expected

I love this device which connects my Windows 10 tower computer and my Windows 7 tower computer to my 24" VGA monitor... and when I press the button to switch from my Windows 10 computer over to my Windows 7 computer, my Windows 10 USB keyboard and USB mouse BOTH also work on my Windows 7 computer!!!So with this device I was able to clear up LOTS of desk space by eliminating my other 23" monitor and my Windows 7 USB keyboard & USB mouse!!!NOTE: I was a little skeptical about purchasing this device after reading some negative reviews (some reviewers said it caused computer screen resolution issues and visible lines on their monitor screen/some said it is too difficult to set up because the included instructions are not very clear/some said the device doesn't work at all/one reviewer was disappointed because he said you must have BOTH computers turned on in order for this device to work properly).I wanted to make it clear that when you have this device properly hooked up I was able to use just ONE of my two computers WITHOUT having to have my second computer turned on also, which is a nice option if you don't always need to use both computers during the same time period and switch back and forth with this device... I had NO screen resolution issues and NO vertical lines on my screen after hooking up the device (on my Windows 7 computer the screen resolution setting remained the same, but I did have to re-adjust my Windows 10 computer screen resolution back to my default 1920x1080 setting).So to sum up my review I would say setting up this device on my 2 computers was pretty straight forward using the two included VGA video cables and I watched one of the videos shown on their Amazon page where I ordered this device from (the brief instructions that come in the package are NOT very helpful so you will probably need to refer to their video installation guide on their Amazon order page which shows in color where to hook up the 2 included VGA cables to this device and where to hook up your keyboard and mouse!)...To complete the setup you will need to use ONE of your own video VGA cables to run from this device to the monitor that you want to use, and then you just connect your USB keyboard & USB mouse from one of your computers to this device and you are ready to use both of your computers that are now connected to only 1 monitor!!!Tim H

I had problems setting this up. I wanted to use it for 3 computers. It would not fire up the LED's were not lighting up. I will tell you the instructions SUCK!!! Even though this s/b a no-brainer setting up, the one thing the instructions failed to tell you that is MOST IMPORTANT! Each cable has both a standard computer multi-pin cable which also has a USB PLUG infused into the workings. This USB plug supplies the power to your selector unit --- and what they fail to tell you is this... YOU MUST PLUG THAT USB CABLE INTO POSITION #1 of all the USB INPUTS on the back of your computer. If you plug it into #2, 3, 4 etc. THE UNIT DOES NOT FIRE UP!! They only informed me of this when I requested to return it and refund. The manual was written by someone foreign *(no discrimination intended!!) who should never be doing TECHNICAL WRITING to instruct people in ENGLISH speaking countries how to set this up. I mean no disrespect but they almost lost the sale due to this person's lack of ability to communicate. OVERALL I REALLY LOVE THE UNIT NOW THAT IT'S WORKING! I use several computers - one for surfing, one for recording, and one to install software on my synthesizers that need updates from time to time.
