Height of what? When the bracket is closed the table is closed and sits normal so I dont understand

Are there instructions for installation?

I dont remember and instructions. But I do advise to use a marker and be very precise where you install them because even off a hair and it won't shut/open right. So just dummy install them and mark where to install before actually drilling it on
