Bremner Mute Trumpet Practice Mute

I should really write this review as ... a neighbour! The Bremmer mute is excellent for what is is buil for: It almost totally eliminates the trumpet sound! For this, it gets a flat five star rating. Yet, while this will be loved by your neighbours and will probably reduce your stress and feelings of guilt for annoying the neighbourhood, killing the trumpet sound in a way kills the pleasure of playing it in the first place. This aside, it's great for keeping your poor performance hidden. One warning: because it essentially blocks the path of the air coming out of the trumpet, it also needs more blowing power to get the notes out and the pitch is not the same with and without it. So, while useful to use, don't use it exclusively all the time. Its good to remind yourself what the poor instrument sounds like from time to time. in my opinion, the Silent Trumpet offered by Yamaha which is a combination of a mute and a sound simulator is a better option but also much more expensive.

Reduces the volume a lot, good for late evening practice. Fits cornet great. Adds a bit of resistance when playing but imo that helps improve playing.

I wasn't sure if the mute would be quiet enough for my use but I was pleasantly surprised. It really dampens the sound considerably. I doubt that you would be heard in any other room then the one you are practising in. The only slight downside that you sometimes have to watch about the mute falling out of the instrument when you are bowing down. Its alright though, I would still buy it again.

I compared this against a cup and straight mute. This mute is astonishing and gives me the capability to practice whenever I like. I used it in another room and people were convinced I was practicing in a room on a different floor! You will probably notice the lowest notes and higher register is a little more difficult, but by far the most effective mute I have ever seen!

I was using a Dennis Wick adjustable cup mute as a practice mute before, but this mute is way better. It's smaller than the Wick mute even with the cup removed and it weighs next to nothing. This means I can fit it next to my trumpet in it's bag no problem, which is perfect for traveling (see photo for how I store it).The resistance and intonation are very good. It feels like playing the trumpet basically. In terms of volume, you could practice with this all day next door to someone without bothering them. I bought it to play in airports etc. You can't literally sit next to someone and play it, but it's about as loud as playing a song at medium volume on your phone. The mute suffers a little bit above the staff (G upwards), but that doesn't bother me. If I were specifically working on range I think it would be a challenge.

This is really good at keeping the trumpet really quiet. You lose the tone to some extent, obviously, but it is worth it to keep everyone happy if you're practising at night.

Excellent service, value for money and fast delivery!!!

It’s probably the quietest mute out there! My only negative comment is that it changes the playability of the instrument which can potentially alter your technique if overused

A bit expensive but makes a huge difference with the sound

My granddaughter lives in an apartment and plays the trumpet. Without this mute she could not practice at home. Now she can. She loves it.

sourdine qui fait son travail mais ne laisse pas assez passer le souffle.
