Extremely Strong Productivity Processor
I am a programmer who works with compiled programming languages in a large codebase all day long, and I bought this processor after seeing it at or near the top of many compiler benchmarks. Indeed, this processor cuts through my work like a knife through hot butter, and it is a joy to watch it speed through tasks! And unlike previous generations of Intel processors, it is quite easy to keep it cool even with cheap air coolers. Despite minor overclocking, the processor stays 10-20 °C away from thermal throttling even under hours of the most intense stress tests (like Cinebench). Furthermore, the processor has been quite stable for me, as I have not encountered any crashes. Keep in mind that many of the mixed/negative reviews are focused on gaming, where the gaming performance for the price is quite disappointing. If Intel manages to iron out all of the major issues (a very big if), this processor will exhibit gaming performance similar to an i9-14900K while being significantly-more power efficient. Accordingly, this could be a strong mixed gaming/productivity processor in the future, but in the meantime, I would not buy this processor if having top-tier gaming performance is important to you. For productivity-focused users like me, however, I would highly recommend this processor for many productivity tasks, where it is often the fastest consumer-grade processor ever made.

Worth it. I am an Intel man
I love Intel so I might not be the best judge but this processor is sound. Better be right. The tetracosa architecture is intels most advanced processor to date. My issue was with the intel store itself. They took way.... to long to ship it out considering. I was furious. The box is small and it was very expensive. You don't sell something like this and sit around on shipping. Its not good business because $600+ for a chip is a big deal. And AMD don't play around. Its solid fans that make your money because people have options and may not notice any difference between them

Great CPU!
I love this CPU! Matched with 48GB DDR5 MT8400 on an Asus ROG Maximus Apex motherboard and this thing rocks! Don't let the AMD lovers get to you, this product performs brilliantly for gaming, video rendering and overall everything else. I have been building PC's since the early 90's and have used MANY Intel and A FEW AMD CPU's and for all purpose computing this one blows them away. Low termperatures (although better with an AIO cooler) and absolute top performance. The PC I just built with this chip consistantly ranks 99th+ percentile in overall performance with Passmark Performance Test.

Noticeable difference.
Wow, just wow. What a difference this processor makes in the day-to-day computing speed. I thought the ultra 7 265k would be great and it's pretty good but the ultra 9 285k runs circles around it. I'm impressed.

A step up in several ways from 13th/14th gen Intel
I use this CPU in my gaming and video editing PC and it's honestly a step up from my 13th gen PC. Intel i9 CPUs have always run hot and the Core Ultra 9 is no exception. However, unlike the 13th/14th gen CPUs, you don't need a crazy cooling setup to keep it tamed under both light and heavy load(though for the sake of longevity I would still get at least a 360mm AIO or a 420mm AIO). Even a giant tower cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 Gen 2 will keep this CPU cooled properly. I don't do any heavy OCing, but the only high temps I see are during heavy rendering or compiling shaders for games(which this CPU does VERY quickly). I've used both the Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 CPUs and unless you really need the extra amount of horse power, the Core Ultra 7 is a better value than the Core Ultra 9. Stability is also easier to achieve on this CPU thanks to it's incredible memory controller. However, you really won't realize this unless you use RAM that has a clock driver in it(Known as CUDIMM), because if you're not you will not see the speeds intel claims you can hit, and if you can hit it, gets very unstable. Installation is straightforward and the same across 1200, 1700, and 1851 sockets so there isn't much to mess up. I'll say again; you will not see the high memory speeds unless you get a CUDIMM RAM kit. Conclusion: Basically only a small step down from the previous generation, but you get so much more stability and it is way easier to cool than the previous generations. Early reviewers made it sound like you were buying an i5 processor in a i9 branding, but man is it so misleading. This CPU absolutely performs like its previous powerhouse generation. BONUS: If you already have a LGA 1700 cooler you're in luck; you can reuse it on socket 1851! the socket dimensions are identical!

This is the best read the review
Listen, this thing is a beast, there are no problems about over heating/ over voltage problems, you can overclock it but you have to water cool if you want to do that, it can game very well runs cod and anything you can throw at it , but for rendering and models and ai work, it is the best ngl those 24cores are the way to go don’t listen to those reviews it’s a great chip and is worth the money as along as you can get the supporting mods, it’s so impressive that is can run 4 sticks of ddr5 at 4000hrz crazy ngl

Blazing-fast desktop CPU for creators + heavy multitasking (platform upgrade required)
Upgraded to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K for a new desktop build and it’s been an awesome “do-everything” chip. The hybrid layout (24 cores: 8P + 16E) keeps the system feeling snappy even with a lot going on at once, and the high boost clocks (up to 5.7 GHz) make everyday work and bursty tasks feel instant. What I like: Serious throughput for demanding workloads (editing/encoding, compiling, VMs, multitasking) Unlocked if you like tuning Integrated graphics is handy for troubleshooting or a no-GPU setup What to know before buying: This is LGA1851, so it’s a new motherboard platform (not a drop-in upgrade for older sockets). Power can ramp up under heavy loads (rated 125W base / up to 250W turbo), so plan on solid cooling and airflow. Intel Many listings don’t include a cooler, double-check what’s in the box. Overall, if you’re building a high-end desktop and want top-tier all-around performance, the 285K is a beast.

As expected. Nothing special, but as advertised. I would buy this again.

Great performance.
This processor doesn't get a lot of love from the influencers at large. This processor is a beast at general tasks, despite it not having hyperthreads (it doesn't need them). I've always used Intel processors as they have always performed well for the tasks I do. This is likely the best part of my new build, and all things considered, probably had the most value per dollar. Yes, I'm aware the socket 1851 architecture is short-lived, and I had an obsolete CPU before I assembled my system. Thing is, I hang onto my PCs for a very long time, and I don't purchase a new PC every year. I wanted performance now, and this CPU delivered. Sure, I could have waited for the new stuff to launch, but you could always be waiting endlessly. I'm very happy with this purchase. While this processor is capable of being overclocked, I have not overclocked my system.
