The instructions sheet that arrived with my drive included recommendations to 3 separate CD/DVD software players. If you are unable to overcome this then you should contact your child or grandchild for assistance! - I would highly recommend purchasing a padded carry case for this drive if you plan to store or carry it. Just like any other electronic equipment it could be easily damaged from bouncing around in a laptop bag unless it's properly protected. Again, this is a limitation of the design (external/USB), not a deficiency of this product. - The cover of the model I purchased is White, like really White. I couldn't tell from the product photo whether it was gray or white. My laptop is gray and I was hoping to get a match, but there didn't seem to be a gray option (only black and white). This is not a problem, just an observation. Bottom line - this product works exactly as expected and is a perfect solution, especially for this price point!

Worked perfectly right out of the box. Super easy. Just plugged into my MacBook Air, one quick click to allow the device access, and done. It is surprisingly very light and the cord was very stiff, so the device doesn’t lay flat very well. But I just put an old box underneath it so the cord could stick out without touching the desk, (I’m sure I’ll find a more permanent solution later but for now it’s fine).

I have thousands of cds and am still in the world of burning cds, importing cds into my iTunes library., as well as DVDs. I've been using an LG external cd/dvd drive for years. A few weeks ago, I replaced my outdated iMac with a 24-inch 2023 iMac. And immediately was thrown into a panic because the LG drive was not compatible. Thinking that the obvious answer was to just buy an Apple external drive, I was really surprised and disheartened to learn that their drive was also not compatible with my brand new computer. I am not ready to give up on my cd existence, but the Apple rep led me to believe it would be difficult to find a "third party" external drive that would be compatible. After doing some research, I sent a detailed inquiry to Roofull and got back a wonderful and encouraging response. When I got the Roofull drive, I connected it to my computer and it was instantly connected. I've since burned cds and dvds. It works beautifully and is extremely user friendly, in fact even better than the LG drive I'd been using. Anyone who faces my problem, given the vanishing world of discs, should get this Roofull drive. It's wonderful and a real saving moment for me.

My old Dell CD DVD drive was no longer being recognized by my Mac. I was a little concerned about this being a frequently returned item, but it worked great for me. Also, the built in cable is handy.

Needed a new CD/DVD player/burner for my desktop MAC after my old one wasn't reading some of my DVDs and this one had the best recommendations and more good reviews than bad. Sadly, it arrived, fully sealed in its packaging but with two of three connectors on its front grill (where the button is) completely unconnected. I was not able to get them to attach. Still, I put a relatively new DVD in and it loaded. I saw the studio logo and the FBI notice, then just a black screen. Tried a second DVD and this time a pop-up told me I needed to change the device's region from 2 to 1. Shouldn't it have been set to 1? When I did that, the film began to play. Presuming that was the issue, I put the previous DVD in. Still a black screen. I tried a third and a fourth and they just rolled around inside like it couldn't read them at all. Getting a refund and I will go back to shopping DIFFERENT brands.

I own a Macbook, and after a year of owning this I continue to have no connection issues with the drive whatsoever. I was looking to buy a cheaper alternative to an Apple CD drive, which easily exceeds $100 these days, and when I spotted this one I thought I'd give it a try. No regrets, it's doing a fantastic job helping me to digitize old and new music, and playing movies. Worth the price.

I bought this after scrapping an perfectly good Apple Superdrive because they stopped supporting it. AlI I wanted was to have something to transfer music from CD to my Macbook and my phone. It does not burn discs but that is not something I need. I liked it has a USB and USB-C connection so it does not need a hub. I took it out of the packaging, gave a quick read of the instructions, plugged it in, waited a bit and it worked great to transfer some CDs. For Windows users it sounds like you will see an icon on your desktop. OS users will see nothing, not even an icon when it is connected. However on closing the disc tray it connected directly to the music app. At this price point it is hard to beat as I use it,

i still like cds, so going away was a problem. this played cds and dvds. so plenty to listen to when getting going, then watch when winding down. was a brilliant choice. just used with laptop. should connect with mobile also. at this point i am happy enough not to doubt it

Handles CDs, Audio CDs and DVDs just fine. I plugged it into a USBc and it is very fast. Seems to be well made.

Roofull is a big BOGUS and FRAUD for their warranty and don't ever purchase of any products from them
