Mobile DJs - this is the DAC you want for ultimate sound and flexibility.
Mobile DJs … dream DAC and Bluetooth transmitter. This product has two USB C ports on it. One for charging and one for connecting to laptop or phone. Also can charge while it’s being used to transmit Bluetooth to DJ mixer & speaker sets flawlessly.Extra clean sound and truly amazing sound settings to accommodate preset EQ amp settings. This is tiny, portable, compact, driver-less and provides zero skip with the amazing Bluetooth range and battery. The computer software interface built in is easy to navigate, offers zero lag on menu navigation and the side buttons are very common sense friendly even for the laziest users.Well worth the investment, and highly recommended for mobile DJs that need to add a one stop shop device for Bluetooth DAC with zero headache features & controls.Sound quality is comparable to EQ DragonFly Cobalt, but better, because of multi-feature rich features and superior pre-amp features that allow for the sound to get extra juice without need of an external powered mixer. Utterly amazing product.Must must have for mobile DJs.

Do yourself a favor and just buy it. You will thank me later
I have owned many BT portable DAC amps in the past including its older brother the BTR7. The BTR17 is a massive upgrade sonically (Desktop mode is a beast) as well as user experience. I use it with my HD600s, my HD490 pros. as well as my friends HD800s set and it drives it with authority, Needless to say, it drove all of my iems with no problems whatsoever. It even drove my flathead set that has an impedance of 600 ohms, it had no trouble at all. As far as Sound signature will start with the bass. The bass is tight and punchy and well controlled. The mid bass is punchy without bleeding into the mids. The rest of the Sound signature I would describe it mostly neutral. In the treble is very polished and unoffensive compared to its older brother, the BTR7. The detail retrieval is excellent and well above its price point. It has a fun tuning that will suit audio files as well. Nothing at this price point comes even close. The Bluetooth on it is best in class. There is barely any difference between a wire connection and Bluetooth. It’s so good. I use Bluetooth most of the time and I used to be a strictly wire connection person. Nothing at this price point comes even close and not only performance but features as well. Highly recommended.

Not Good With Sensitive IEMs Like CA Solaris2020, Otherwise Much Better Than BTR7
If you're going back and forth between this and the BTR7...I have both and the 17 runs circles around the 7 sound wise. There's simply no contest. The BTR17 easily has greater resolution and exerts much more control over my Campfire Audio Dorado 2020's. On top of that you get a volume knob. As far as Bluetooth is concerned the 17 doesn't have a menu selection for which device you want to connect to, instead, you just go into your bluetooth devices on the source device(phone) and select it and it connects quickly. Mostly, I'm impressed with the significantly better sound quality vs the BTR7 which I previously felt was at least equal to or better than the ifi goblu. One MAJOR consideration with the BTR17 is that it's essentially incompatible with sensitive IEMs, such as the Campfire Audio Solaris 2020, which will leave you with an audible ticking sound that doesn't go away. The Solaris2020 is known to be sensitive(I can hear background hiss with a Chord Mojo2 so I can't fault the BTR17 too much at this price point. I've been in contact with Fiio tech support and I don't believe I have a defective BTR17). I have only two other minor issues with the BTR17. First, the carry case it comes with should really have a clip instead of the leather belt loop button thing it comes with. Also, given the size of the device(really only slightly larger than a BTR7) the battery life could be longer. It's rated at 8 hours but in reality if it's like the BTR7 it'll be more like 7.

Good sound, mobile app to control it sucks
Great sound, overall I'm happy with this device over the BTR7 and Qudelix 5k which I also own. However, unlike the BTR7 the 17 requires an app to change settings, nothing can be changed on the actual device, and the app is really slow(literally every action you take in the app causes a 5-10 second loading screen, including scrolling through the menus, on an S24). You only really need to use the app to set up and fine tune it initially, and it will function without the app, but it is still annoying how slow the app is.

FiiO BTR17 – The Hype Train Pulled In, but the Party Was Already Over
I waited by the door like it was Christmas morning. The FiiO BTR17 had been hyped as the answer to all things portable and powerful. Clean signal. Dual DAC. Fancy screen. Enough Bluetooth codecs to make your head spin. And yes, it does what it says. It works. It connects. It powers. It decodes. It checks every spec sheet box like a well-trained honor student. But that’s the problem. It feels like an honor student. All brains, no vibes. The sound is clean, sure. Almost too clean. It felt surgical at times. Like it was trying so hard to be neutral that it forgot music is supposed to feel alive. The interface? Functional. The screen? Kinda cool but not essential. The overall experience? Solid but strangely sterile.I didn’t hate it. But I didn’t love it. It showed up, did its job, and clocked out without making eye contact.FiiO BTR17? More like Brought The Rigidity.Back in the drawer for now. Maybe it’ll shine on a rainy day when I need specs over soul.
