Fractal Design SILENT SERIES R2 50MM 5cm case fan

The item arrived as described and works very well, It is virtually quite during operation. However please note that this is a 3 pin fan and while it still works without fault on a 4 pin fan header. You are not able to control the fan speed so it stays throttled up at maximum speed constantly (despite this it is still quiet).Three things can potentially happen when you plug a 3 pin fan into a 4 pin header:1.You look in the BIOS and find that there actually is a place in the CPU cooler control system to specify which fan type you have connected, and there's a similar place for the one 4-pin case fan output.2. You find no such adjustment possible, and your 3-pin fans on the 4-pin outputs simply run at full speed all the time.3. You get lucky and wonderfully the mobo senses the right way to do all the fans and does actually achieve fan speed control all around.

Bought to replace a noisy fan that came in my USB hard drive enclosure.The addition of a second HD to the enclosure required the fan to actually be turned on due to the heat and the cheap one that came in it was just annoying.This is much quieter but not silent. I can also tell the airflow is much improved.The only downside was that it came with quite a long cable with a 3 pin head. Being a constant rate fan, I had to cut the wires and solder on the old 2 pin head and shorten the wires. This is entirely dependent on what you intend to use this fan for but since I can't think of many situations where you would hook up a fan this small to a speed controller, it seemed a bit pointless to have a 3 pin.It may have been nice for that to be advertised more clearly but nothing against the fan. Does it's job much better than what I had.

Really good fans and actually very quite, I have used 2 of these to keep the my server board chips cool as they were getting too hot and cusing issues for my server and these work perfectly. Very good price and very quite, comes with 3 pin connector and sleeved cable so fits perfectly into my server.

Fractal fans, will vibrate and crunch after being clean for first time and then they must be replaced as nothing else will do it.Worst fans I have ever installed of all sizes and shapes.Fractal must be on acid, if they thing this product is in any way shape or form a robust and worthwhile product that would careful maintenance/dusting.Life span 3 months to bin. Dont buy fractal

Got this to put in a HTPC. Its very easy to fit and very quiet. Haven't had it for long so can't say anything about reliability but so far so good.

Used this in a Humax Freeview player it did the job fine.
